TLDR: Very authentic Korean owned restaurant with fresh and flavorful eats.
For some context - my wife is Korean and we've visited Seoul 3 times in the past 2 years. Surprisingly we've been able to find solid restaurants locally that specialize in more specific Korean dishes like Samgaetang, Kalguksu and Jjajiangmyeon, but haven't been able to find a super solid general Korean restaurant for things like Kalbi-tang, Gamjatang, etc. That is until we found this place!
This is a very cozy feeling restaurant, with lots of wood accents that feels warm and welcoming when you step inside. They were quite busy when we came but the service was still excellent and the food came out quick. This is a Korean owned restaurant and very authentic.
Side dishes were a nice assortment of 4 different types, all very fresh and flavorful. The kimchi was particularly fresh and packed with garlicky goodness. They had an imitation crab salad side dish as well that day which I don't often seen and really enjoyed too.
I had their Kalbi-tang and my wife had their Gamjatang. The Kalbi-tang is probably the best I've had in the GTA. The meat was fall off the bone and very tender. The soup itself had lots of flavor without being overly salty. The Gamjatang was similarly tasty. Prices are quite reasonable for what you get - e.g. the Kalbi-tang was $24.99 and the Gamjatang was $18.99 as of writing this review.
Overall my wife and I are so happy we found this spot. We often find ourselves missing food from Korea and have had surprising difficulty finding a restaurant locally that does the core classic Korean dishes well. We're so happy we...
Read moreOverall: 4/5, would likely return to try more menu items. This time we tried pork bone soup with hand pulled noodles and also a bulgogi bibimpap.
Service: 4.5/5 friendly and proactively asked if we would like more side dishes. Food came out relatively timely.
Food: 3.5/5 meets expectations, but not memorable. Nothing was bad but nothing stands out as excellent. The price is reasonable, but the portion is unnoticeable slightly smaller than other similar restaurants at the same price point. I was expecting the food to be a little hotter, especially the bibimpap that's in a hot stone bowl. This is personal preference only. The food is on the " light" side - not spicy and not saucy.
Ambience: 3.8/5 probably can fit 40-50 customers at max. Clean and bright and overall a comfortable casual setting for a quick meal. However there were two flies flying around when we were dining. It could just be the season I...
Read moreFirst time here but it turns out to be the worst service ever and not organized. We placed the order at 6:50 for a Pork back bone hot pot and dumplings with rice cakes ( total of 2 dishes) and waited over 40 mins and nothing came. We sat, waited but no staff came to see if we got our foods and times passed and watch they bring out foods for tables came after us (4 tables) and still nothings. Ask the lady twice on where is our foods, then she checked but never came back to give us a feedback and continue to deliver foods to other tables. Both lady staffs ignored us. We know it’s a family business but it is horrible. We advised the man and decided to cancel our orders and LEFT !!! Honestly, this is our first time ever walk out a restaurant. Think they need to speak to the server that took our order; she probably did not submit or...
