Definitely overpriced for what you get. Spend your $$ elsewhere. While the food wasn’t terrible, it certainly wasn’t worth the per person price. Food was good, but portions vary from one plate to another and taste-wise was mostly either just salty or just plain pedestrian flavours. Reminds me of meeting/conference menus. When you come here, I guess you come for the “experience” and not the food. We bought tickets before reading reviews and realized that they’re non-refundable. Don’t make the same mistake. Our total bill for 2 ppl with the auto-gratuity came to about $370 with 1 cocktail each including the non-refundable deposit. Party of 2’s get seated with others at a long table. Room is cramped, there’s not enough room between tables so servers bump into your chair a lot. You pay the balance of your “tickets” at entry with auto-gratuity. Speaking of gratuity, some servers were pleasant, but clearly need better training. Plates are placed in front of patrons in such hurried/sloppy manners and reaching over a lot. Water took a while to get refilled. Bills get literally dropped (almost thrown) in front of patrons on the table. No need to arrive 30 mins early as long as you’re there before the start time, it’s probably just to get people to buy drinks at the bar. Drinks are weak. If you’re a foodie or live downtown Toronto and have had a lot of exposure to all kinds of flavours/dishes, you probably would want to spend your money elsewhere. You can get much better food at actual fine dining restaurants with proper dishes, great ambiance, nice bottle of wine, and still end up paying less. If you don’t dine out much, live in the area and want to go somewhere close, have young kids, or just want the “experience”, you might enjoy. Kids (above 6 y.o. is the recommendation) would love it, but be prepared to sit for 2.5+ hrs. The actual food that show up doesn’t necessarily look like the videos, some missing the ingredients. Caprese was super basic with only a few pieces of tomato, soup was ok but salty and a bit runny, chicken was surprisingly juicy and tender, filet mignon was cooked to liking but sides were meh (steamed veg were barely cooked, still crunchy), crème brûlée was basic. The chicken was the best dish if I had to pick. We left full, but most likely from waiting for so long in-between each meal/video. The videos are cute, but really just a gimmick IMHO. The background music for the videos keep repeating until the next video. Combined with the noise from the comedy club outside the room. So annoying. You can stay for the comedy show afterwards if you want to, but we didn’t. Overall, I would not recommend unless you just want the experience. It looks nothing like the fancy menu offerings in other countries.

A Unique Experience for Father's Day at Le Petit Chef I just came back from Le Petit Chef and had the pleasure of attending with my father to celebrate Father’s Day. It was definitely a memorable and fun experience! Booking & Payment: You book your reservation online, and there’s a $90 charge to hold your spot (per person, I believe). Once you arrive, you pay the remaining balance for the event and any drinks separately. One thing to note: gratuity is already included—18% in our case, which came to about $33 for two people. It would have been helpful if staff pointed this out upfront, just for clarity. Arrival: They ask you to arrive 30 minutes early so the experience can start on time, and I think that helps everything run smoothly. Food: The food was excellent—just as advertised. Every course was beautifully presented and delicious. I took a few photos and will be sharing them! Service: Service was top-notch. Our server, Kevin, was attentive and really on top of things at every table. He definitely earned that 18% gratuity! Show: The animated show was fantastic—charming, creative, and unlike anything I’ve experienced before. My only suggestion: since the show is the same regardless of whether you order the regular menu, vegetarian, or kids’ menu, it might be nice to tailor it slightly depending on your meal choice. But overall, I loved it. Final Thoughts: It’s a fun, immersive dining experience that’s perfect for a special occasion. Just be aware of the costs and gratuity ahead of time. I’d definitely recommend it if you're looking to try something unique!

During a recent visit to Le Petit Chef in Richmond Hill, I had the opportunity to dine with my family. This unique restaurant is situated in a small room connected to the Jokers Comedy Club. Upon arrival, I was surprised to discover that full payment for the reserved table, including the 18 percent tip, was required upfront. While this payment process deviated from the norm, it ensured a streamlined experience from the beginning. Unfortunately, the food at Le Petit Chef fell short of expectations, offering a mediocre culinary experience at best. However, I was pleased to find that they did have a selection of options specifically designed to cater to the preferences of younger guests, which was a favorable aspect of our visit. The accompanying show provided moderate entertainment value, although it did not reach the level of excellence. Regrettably, the repetitive background music, playing continuously while waiting for the next course, became increasingly bothersome. The same track on repeat detracted from the overall ambiance. Moreover, the noise emanating from the adjacent comedy club occasionally disrupted the tranquility, slightly diminishing the overall experience. I will also mention that the gentleman was very attentive to us. Service was good. In conclusion, I would rate Le Petit Chef a solid 5 for the quality of the food and a slightly higher 6.5 for the overall experience. While there is room for improvement, the restaurant still managed to provide an acceptable outing for my family.

Original Post: March 2, 2025 Online booking was easy. Must book your fixed menu course (pick one of either classic, veggie, or kids) and pay a deposit (I paid $90 for 2 people) at the time of your reservation. The $169.98 balance (and the mandatory inclusion of the 18% tip and 13% HST) must be paid, in full, prior to being seated for the show/dinner. Drinks are not included and billed separately at the end of the show. Food was FANTASTIC! The show was very entertaining. It was fun to see how they made the video to interact with how each course is prepared. What I found funny was how the characters stand around and wait for you to complete that course before the next chef creates the following plate. Did I say how FANTASTIC the food was? Well, it was!!! I was not expecting that kind of meal from a place that was not exclusively a restaurant. It is, after all, a comedy club. The down side: 1st: The location was difficult to find as the club faces away from the rest of the restaurant complex. The club actually faces East Beaver Creek Blvd. It is the back side of the building that is shared with Fat Bastard Burrito and other restaurants. 2nd: The night was very expensive. On top of the cost of the dinner, we ordered 2 delicious "Jokers" sangrias and 1 martini at $16 each & 1 $4.25 soft drink. After tax and tip our drinks totaled $70.98. Our evening of 2 ended up costing $401.64. Although enjoyable, it's a very expensive Sunday night.

UPDATE - June 15, 2025 Brought my parents for Father's Day. Something different and special than our usual restaurant. They loved everything about their dining experience. Due to my parents age, I opted to make a 5 PM reservation a few days before but then on Saturday I received a phone call saying that with many people booking odd number of seats, they we not able to accommodate everyone's reservations and were calling people to see if they would be willing to change their seating time. After consulting with my parents to see what time they would prefer, either the 2:30 or the 7:30 PM shows. They decided to go with the 7:30 show. Just like my previous dining experience, it was a less crowed which just makes for a more personable experience from the staff. As an added bonus, for agreeing to move our reservation, we were offered a complementary bottle of wine! Thank you for that!!!

A huge shout out to Fiona and Kevin as they both recognized me from the last time I dined there. Great to chat with them. Fiona gave me an insider scoop when she told me that they changed the desert since my last visit. They switched from a crème brûlée to a mango cheesecake.

Once again, everything was FANTASTIC and went off exactly like last time. Proving that my last visit was not a lucky one off good night for the kitchen staff but that they are consistent with the prepping and presentation each dish.

Turning to the new dessert, as much as I really like crème brûlée, the switch to a mango cheesecake raises the bar of the dinner up a few levels. It wasn't just delicious, the cheesecake was more in line with the theme of the video. It's also a more suitable complement to the meal. Good choice in this new desert selection. All this and not to mention that the new desert was an extra special treat as my parents really like mangos and my mom loves cheesecake so thanks for making my parents extra happy for...

Just finished the Le Petite Chef dinner. Not even deserving one 1 star. If I can write a review with no stars, I would have clicked it to start this review. Don't waste your money. As it will cause you more grief that enjoyment! We called to schedule for a party of 6 over a month ago after we booked online and the reason that I called was to ensure that we can be arranged to sit together. We were instructed to call on the week of August 8 (which I even set a reminder on my phone to do that) to remind them that we are sitting together as a party of 6 and during that call it was no problem. Even the morning of today, they called and I confirmed that our party of 6 will be sitting together and they informed me that they made a note on our reservation. Upon arrival, it was then they told us it's "no guarantee" and first come first serve. The manager’s attitude was awful! There were two tables that can fit a party of 6 and they were like those table goes to people with kids. They ended up placing two of my friends on another table sitting with some stranger and his kid facing their back towards us. No integrity of words and poor arrangement.

Utensils, my friend had to hold it as we were eating and waiting for the second course. Like a statue of some sort holding his knife and forks. No small plates to put it on. We will flag the waitress down and will get another napkin to place our knifes and forks. The chicken was stuffed with goat cheese, I didn't enjoy that at all. The steak wasn't cooked according to our request. You will actually feel very rushed during the whole meal, as they are always eager to switch plates and start another course for the next projection and the next seating that they have. It was very packed. It's so packed that the servers cannot access everyone, my husband was handed the dishes throughout the whole night. It definitely made him felt like a part of the team! Le Grande Chef! While I felt like I was a sardine in a can and at a lunch rushing back to work. If you order drinks, it's separate pricing and another 18% automated gratuity. Overall for this price point, the type of entertainment how after multiple confirmation and they just disregard or seating arrangement and food. I did not enjoy this at all! Many other dinner options I could...
