We came to Miyabi on Friday for dinner as it offers fresh sushi/sashimi for your taste palettes. When we got in, it was starting to get busy, but we were able to get a table right away. There's quite a selection of sushi/dishes to choose from in their menu.
Since there was only two servers (the older one can barely speak English well), it was somewhat hard to get their attention as they were just running around tables a majority of the time. However, my low rating was not because of their food (which btw, our sushi were really fresh!), but due to their overall wait time and service.
I feel that they need to change up the way they do things/hire another chef for weekends. We ordered some appetizers (from the kitchen) that took no longer than 10 mins to get, however, we waited more than an hr for our sushi afterwards. I'm not sure if that's how they do things (make you wait so you'll be hungry to order more), but it's ridiculous since we didn't order that many pieces. All the food we eat in the beginning all digested, and we were not informed/attended to until 50 mins later when our server said that it's almost our turn to get our dishes. Honestly, 1 hr for a few pieces of sushi is not acceptable (especially since the restaurant was not a full house yet when we ordered).
We left afterwards not feeling full, and did not want to order more because we didn't want to wait another hour. Now I remember why we stopped coming here for sushi. If you want fresh sushi but don't mind waiting for a very long time, then this place is for you, however, if you are expecting a normal wait time for dinner/hungry, it's...
Read moreI recently placed a phone pickup order for sushi, sashimi moriawase and six pieces of toboki sushi. The waitress informed me that the restaurant was quite crowded, and we would need to wait for an hour for our order. This was acceptable, as we were not particularly hungry at the time. However, I was left feeling very disappointed after receiving the sushi.
Firstly, I noticed that the charges exceeded the prices listed on the online menu. The sashimi moriawase was advertised at $85.95, yet we were charged $95.95. Additionally, the six pieces of toboki sushi were supposed to cost $3.95 each, totaling $11.85, but we were charged over $20 for them. After tax, it should be $110.51 but they charged $128.51 which overcharged by $18. My husband assisted with the pickup and was unaware of the total price. I only realized the discrepancies once he returned home.
Furthermore, the quantity of sushi provided did not match the claim that it would serve 3-4 people. There were only about 22-25 pieces of sushi, and they were relatively small in size. I was expecting more with this price.
While the sashimi was acceptable but not align with the price, I had expected a variety that included scallops, sweet shrimp, and surf clams, but none of these were included. Although the fish itself was of fair quality, the overall experience was still somewhat disappointing. It was...
Read more2023 October 3.5★ A small authentic Japanese restaurant that has a home feel. It's not upscale, nor fancy. Not on the internet or have that modern feel. In fact, you'll still see the old small tube televisions hung up in the ceiling. You'll find this place to be run by the original owners.
The menu has everything! Seriously. What you'll find here is that they do everything. Sushi. Sashimi. Takoyaki. Sukiyaki. Okonomiyaki. Etc.
Yakiniku appetizer 13.95 Cooked beef in their special sauce. This was so so.
Syokado bento 38.95 Not bad. A bit of everything. Almost like a kaiseki style but in a bento. Certainly worth checking out.
Samma 7.95 If you like this type of fish, it's ok.
Beef Takaki 10.95 Was pretty good. Would recommend.
Masai 8.95 Kani sushi 8.95 Negihama 8.95 Spider 10.95 All the sushi was good. A bit thinner than expected. The spider roll seemed dry.
Shrimp Okonomiyaki 12.95 Pretty good, but was small. A one bite appetizer for 4.
It's nice and gives a home feel. Though the prices are a bit more expensive. What they really need is more people to come and thus lower their pricing. It's ok. Certainly good food (some better than others) that...
