I have been berry good’s customer for a long long time, and it’s struggling for me to write this review today. I ordered 2 white chocolate cheesecakes for take out, the staff informed a total of $13. They usually would not issue receipt, and I would not ask for it neither. After payment, somehow I suddenly realized the total didn’t seem to align with 2 pieces of cake that costs $5.95 each (even adding up the tax). Out of curiosity, I asked the staff if there was extra charge for the box starting now. She said the box was free of charge, the extra amount was for the tips. I asked her further to clarify how the tips would be added (per cake or transaction, and how much), so that I would know how that works next time. She then said it was not actually for her tips, the extra amount would be “collected by someone to help someone else” (it’s literally what she said and there was no additional info). I got very confused about the whole situation...if this is for donation, first of all it should not be a mandatory charge, and they would need to inform the customer up front rather than adding the amount to the total without telling. Seriously, it was only a small amount which I didn’t mind giving, but it is integrity issue to charge for hidden fees. I asked how long they have been charging for this donation, and the staff said it’s been a month (so probably I didn’t realize the difference for my previous purchase). Couldn’t help to give her suggestion in putting a sign up or something to at least telling customers about it before charging it. I really like their cheesecake and has been a fan for so long, the experience was disappointing and I would probably ask for the receipt and check the total...
Read moreBerry Good was recommended to me by a family friend when I inquired about a nut free cake that I can purchase as a walk-in customer.
I visited the cozy cake shop on Easter Sunday. I was looking for something pink for a 5-year old’s birthday which we were going to celebrate at a park on Easter Monday. To my surprise, they accommodated designing a thousand layer mango cake with pink macaroons, pink bow and tiny pink treats that I could pick-up at 7pm that night. They were so very nice. I was so delighted.
The cake was so pretty and yummy. Very light and just the perfect amount of sweetness. Needless to say, the cake was very much loved and the 5-yr old was beyond pleased. There were 10 people who got to taste the cake and there was almost half of it that the celebrator brought home.
Following that order, our family sampled some of their cake slices - their famous and oh so decadent blanc noir, chocolate mousse, thousand layer Oreo and chestnut cakes. All so yummy as expected. I also ordered a whole blanc noir for my mom’s birthday a couple days later.
I find the cake slice to be the perfect size or maybe even a tad big. I find myself not being able to finish the entire slice.
We are sure to sample...
Read moreThey have really delicious cakes and throughout the years I have been here a handful of times and the quality has kept. The decor is also really adorable and could make for a cute place for post-dinner dessert date.
However, the servers seemed to be a bit...lost. Our group sat at the far-end of the restaurant and waited for quite a while to be served. Specifically, there was one server who kept on walking out with orders but after she placed them down on her intended table she would keep her eyes either on the floor or towards the kitchen so it was impossible to get her attention without shouting over to her. Perhaps she was only supposed to bring out the food? But if that is the case, she could have at least given eye contact and brought over another server.
So either come during a quieter time, or sit closer to the front or if you don't mind a more..relaxed pace of service then I would recommend this place because the cakes are really quite good. The selection changes slightly daily. Their Noir Blanc is what I usually order but I also hear their cheesecake is quite...
