Bubble Queen Cafe Richmond — Restaurant in Richmond

Wow. This place calling itself Bubble Queen obviously doesn’t know how to make bubble waffles.

On the 24th May,2024 at around 5:50pm i ordered a bubble waffle here with Portuguese tart filling. The damage was around $9.5 I didn’t have high hopes, but I didn’t expect the shells on the waffle falling apart, crumbing down the paper bag the moment I stepped out of the store. (See Picture 1)

“Oh well it sucks but guess it will suck harder as time goes by so might as well eat it now before it’s too late” I was chowing down the crumbling waffle shells and two minutes passed… the waffle got soggy (see picture 2)

I really hoped this only bubble waffle place in the grid to work… because it’s the only bubble waffle place in the grid! I’m writing this hoping you guys would make things right- do your job and give your staff proper training. I want to support this little store but tbh it will take one full refund and another test run to rebuild the trust in this...

We were excited to come back to Bubble Queen for the first time in years, but I don't think we'll be coming back ever again.

We came back to have the Ferrero Rocher slush which was our old favourite. Shockingly, it took TWENTY minutes to get our drink despite there being only 5 people ahead of us and there were 4 staff working. What was even worse was that the drink, including some mochi toppings, was $11. We've been to lots of premium bubble tea shops over the years but this was definitely the most expensive one yet. $11!! This was STAGGERING. Even after inflation and Covid, this price was outright ridiculous.

And then we finally got our drink and sadly it wasn't even good. It was watered down, not sweet, and was so mediocre. Tasted like a cheap milkshake that I could have made at home topped with an unwrapped Ferrero Rocher just to let you know that there might be Ferrero Rocher in the drink. Honestly I feel like we were...

We stopped by Bubble Queen in Richmond awhile back, when it was still Cherry Blossom Season and ordered the following:

Sakura Matcha Ice Cream Lychee Slush Portuguese Egg Tart Bubble Waffle

The Lychee Slush and Sakura Matcha Ice Cream were both tasty; while the Sakura Matcha was pretty when we dug into it with our spoons, we discovered that it was hollow in the middle. The ice cream was dispensed in a way such that it swirled around on the outside and appeared to be a big, tall mound of ice cream, but the centre of the cup was empty. This was quite disappointing for us.

The Portuguese Egg Tart Bubble Waffle was "meh". We've had a much better Portuguese Egg Tart Bubble Waffle elsewhere. I think if we try Bubble Waffle at this place again, we might stick with a more basic flavor next time.
