I called them to order a whole cake. The man on the phone asked me for the pick-up time and I told him between 12pm - 2pm. Then he said, "Not 12pm; 2pm." He sounded mad and I was shocked; I did not know why he was mad. If he was not available at a certain time, then he should let me know but he asked for my time so I just let him know. He was rude.
When we went to pick up the cake, the woman made us wait for 10 mins because they were still making the cake. It did not make sense because we ordered the cake two days in advance. They just wanted to make us wait but it was a lame excuse; they were arrogant indeed.
When we returned 10 mins later, the woman washed her hands with her gloves on. What was the point of wearing gloves? Also, I paid her but she thanked my sister instead and she handed the cake to her. It was weird. Usually, you thank the person who pays you. Moreover, they had sheets of the price list available for customers but they were blocked by the covid plastic shield. Then why did they put them there?
P.S. The 8" durian cake only had one layer of 1.5cm of durian whipped cream inside while there were two 1" layers of sponge cake. Am I paying for the sponge cake or for the durian? They put minimal cream to cover the cake and you can still see the sponge cake through the cream. Also, they had the cream ribbon around the bottom of the cake which made it difficult to hold the cake because the cardboard holding the cake was not much larger than the cake. They should put that cream ribbon on top of the cake instead. Moreover, they put a lot of strawberries on the top of the cake that were more than necessary as garnish; they should just make it a strawberry cake. For $59, it...
Read moreI ordered my wedding cake at this place because I tried our their cakes and it was very soft and not super sweet. I requested the cake to be at the restaurant for 6:00pm for the cake ceremony. We called the shop many times and no one answered. After many attempts we finally got a hold of someone at The Cake Workshop and we asked where abouts was the driver? The person on the phone replied saying she does not know where the driver is. A better reply would have been Her calling to see where the driver was. The restaurant is not far from The Cake Workshop literally a 2-3 minute drive. The cake did not show up until 6:30pm when all my guests has arrived watching how them assemble the cake.
The lady of this Cake Workshop specifically have asked me to leave the cake topper on the table for the guys to put the cake topper on the top tier of the cake. The best part was the guys who assembled the cake said the cake topper won't fit on the cake and have suggested to put the cake topper on the bottom tier. My question is why is it called the cake topper not the cake bottom if that is the case. My cousin had the remaining of the cake money and have told the guys who were assembled the cake to put the cake topper on the top tier otherwise they won't get paid. Of course now they have to fix my cake. Aside from that we bought roses to have them decorate the cake. When my husband brought the 2 dozen roses to the shop they said the roses are too small. They never mentioned size of the roses they needed. On the cake there were not 24 roses. I am curious where the remaining roses went. Horrible experience...
