recommend buying one flavour each order. They don't label what flavour their chickens are if you buy two or more flavours. You will be scratching your heads what flavours they are.

the meteorite chicken wings were pretty good, although we will not order it again. It's kinda pricey for a mid-wing, costing at least $2 each.

[August 18, 2024] Chirpyhut is one of the best deep-fried chicken restaurants in GVA, far better than KFC or Popeye's. Everything is made to order, not precooked and warmed under a heat lamp like KFC or Popeyes's.

We ordered the $37.99 8-piece "Drumstick & Thigh Combo." It also comes with a basket of freshly cooked French fries, a small container of mashed potatoes with gravy, and a can of cola.

You get to choose one of eight different flavors, including one mystery one called "含笑半步癲" or "Exclusive Flavor." Non-Chinese speakers would be clueless about the phrase; that's understandable. Even for Chinese speakers, not everyone has heard of it unless you are a Stephen Chow 週星馳 movie fan. 🤣 But instead of "含笑半步癲," the movie uses "含笑半步釘." To know what it means, check out the movie "唐伯虎點秋香." A funny AF movie.

We very seldom see anyone dine in for whatever reason. Most people appeared to have called ahead and then come to pick up their orders at a later time. We should have done that too, but we dined in this time.

Honestly, the $37.99 price tag isn't worth it. There is a cheaper option: $6.99 for two drumsticks. Eight pieces will cost less than $28. Pretending that eight drumsticks are the same as four drumsticks and four thighs, that means the basket of French fries, mashed potatoes, and a can of cola cost $10? We can live without them. Next time, it will be drumsticks only!

We should have asked for takeout because it takes 15-20 minutes to cook and another 5 minutes for the chickens to cooldown or it will definitely scorch our lips and mouths. It was extremely scorching hot. We should be able to immediately dig in after the walk home without the need to wait for 5 minutes. 😅

the chickens were perfectly deep fried. And the "pepper salt" was great! The pepper salt was sprinkled on the skin or batter. The meat inside was quite bland, though. We don't eat the skin, but we peeled the skin with our mouths, thus leaving some pepper salt on our lips. That way, the bland meat can have a little taste too.

The counter lady was quiet but not without compassion. Seeing me looking around for napkins, she brought a stack to my table without me asking for it. Then, seeing we were finishing up, she came over and asked if we needed a takeaway box for the unfinished chicken. We said no, but she added, "It's free." We replied, "Thanks. No need. We live nearby." Unlike what others say, she was helpful, just not very talkative. Asian girls, quite understandable. 😅

We'll be back on a regular basis...

After visiting the store today, I understand and can attest to the horrible customer service experience from the staffs (2 girls in particular). They messed up my order which can happen sometimes (although I specifically pointed at the item as I said my order). When I noticed the mistake, I told them. They insincerely and in a very annoyed tone said "sorry ok, I said sorry ok" and made me pay additional money to fix the mistake. The girl said the fee was 'necessary' and she wasn't the manager. (How is it that the customer has to be the one to pay for their mistake? Ps. Some of the other reviews also said their order was messed up.) Afterwards, they said it would take 12 mins and it took 30 mins. Luckily I wasn't in a rush today but it took so much longer, if I had somewhere else to be, I might have made a different decision knowing the real time. I tried to tell the girl that the attitude was not okay and she proceeded to pretend to acknowledge my words by replying "Yeah sure", and on the meanwhile, said to the other staffs in Chinese, "this is annoying" since I spoke English to her. She later gave me chicken popcorn to try to 'apologize' for it (but still showed through her attitude that she was not sorry) after I confronted her but I can imagine a lot of people would not know how to stand up for themselves in situations like that. It is so awful that the staffs would make the customers feel so unwelcomed. Attitude is so important in customer service and just in life. I tried to put this review in the most gentle way but the staffs were not friendly at all and their attitude was rude...

Amazing quality and flavour. Having always been a fan of Church’s and Popeyes fried chicken and having had Chirpy Hut twice, I’m convinced they are a hidden gem. I’ve had their wings, tenders, and burger.

The chicken is high quality, fresh, and amazing flavour, not to mention great value. The crust is not oily or overly battery. Every bite is juicy, hot, chicken. Even when I first had several hour old Chirpy Hut chicken, the flavour was great and a quick microwave/air-fry returned the chicken nearly to its original experience. Depending on your preference, they have a wide variety of flavour powder, however, original flavour was great.

I have high standards when it comes to Chicken Burgers and their burger stacked up to the best I’ve had in the US and Canada. The same fresh juicy chicken with fresh lettuce, American Cheese, and a healthy dollop of mayo. If their buns were any better (not to say it was bad), they would get a solid 9/10 in my books.

Many reviewers in the past have dragged this establishment for their service quality, but for a fast food establishment I believe they provide adequate service for their location in central Richmond. While we’re in Canada, it very much is in line within the cultural context.

The venue is very no-frills and they offer a 20% off walk-in discount. Their food is definitely best experienced inside for maximum...
