I was at Yaohan with my son eating and had no intentions on going to the 2nd floor but nostalgia took over and I was curious after seeing the decline over the years what it looked like upstairs. We stumbled upon Toyka and walked in to browse. The staff who I assume is the owner was very friendly and customer service oriented. We ended up buying a One Piece model set but had zero experience. Even I as a kid never built one of these so we asked questions and he advised we needed nippers to take the pieces out to assemble. This is where the difference between somebody who just wants business and somebody who genuinely just wants to give you the best advice possible comes through. His first suggestion was I can simply use pliers and some other items I may already own at home and at no point did he suggest he sells them and I can buy one. It wasn't until I asked that he revealed he does sell them but even then he suggested if I really wanted one I get can get better ones elsewhere and listed off a couple brands. Sure the nippers were not a ton of money, even If I got them he would have made what $5-$8 in profit, maybe. The point is he could have simply suggested from the start he had them and pushed the sale on me. This is the type of owner that shows it's about me getting the best experience with building our first set and his profits are secondary and this is how you gain a loyal customer to come back...
Read moreI went over to Toyka 5 mins before closing time looking for Sonny Angels for a friend for her birthday today and I couldn’t find this place after parking. I called the number from google maps and (who im guessing is the owner) picked up and told me I was right outside the store trying to find their location and that he sees me through the glass doors. I walked in, a bit soaked from the rain and asked if they supplied Sonny Angels that i was gonna get for my friend. He apologized and said that they don’t have any supply left. After seeing my disappointed face, he pulled out a valentines edition Sonny angel that he said he was keeping for display that he can sell to me for my friends birthday. My eyes brightened up knowing i could get my friend what she wanted (honestly felt like I was part of a Christmas special). Thank you so much for accommodating my spontaneous request!! Will definitely...
Read moreA cool place for toy lovers! If you're in to anime, this store has quite a collection for you. Many statues and action figures of popular titles: Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, JoJo, One Piece, just to name a few. If you love plastic models like Gundam, they carry not only the figures but also paint, special pen, and other tool for plastic model as well. You can also find Star Wars, Marvel, DC, TMNT, and other popular pop culture figures here. Saw a pretty cool Jack Sparrow when I visited. By the entrance there's a section of figures on sell, some of them are due to damaged box; worth to check out if you don't mind. The owner is very kind and friendly, you can see he...
