4.5/5
This place recently opened up (couple months ago I think?) so had to try it out! Overall, it's a solid sushi place, and I was surprised at how many things they had on the menu. They literally took items from different sushi restaurants and put it on there! For example they have BC Blazer Roll (I've only seen it at Sushi Lovers) and Ora Roll (only seen at Ora Sushi). Nothing wrong with it, but just great to see TONS of variety!
The Davie Roll Spicy Tuna, Prawn Tempura, Avocado, Wild Salmon, Tobiko. Sounds like a deadly combo! It was good, but I feel like whatever sauce they put on didn't give it enough 'wow' factor. So although it was a good roll, it wasn't amazing. 4/5
Chicken Teriyaki Donburi I love chicken teriyaki rice bowls and I feel like this is one of those items that can tell a lot about a sushi restaurant lol. Good news, this one was pretty solid! Not the best I've had, a bit too much sauce and also the sauce was a bit too salty. But other than that, it was tasty! 4.5/5
So overall, I would definitely come back to try their other items. The other major downside that would deter me from coming back though is the parking. Parking is not easy and especially in that parkade, it's stressful getting in and out of. It's always packed! But I would definitely recommend you checking this place out! It's a solid place with tons of variety. Again it's not 'amazing', but it's solid! Service was...
Read moreI LOVE sushi and Japanese food in general and rarely get the opportunity to eat it. We just had a delicious dinner at this restaurant. If you are in Richmond and are looking for a great meal, this is the place. While we had our dine-in meal, I lost count of the number of people who came in to order take out food. They all left quickly - the wait is very minimal. Staff are all very friendly and the place is very clean, nice decor and it wasn't loud. Comfortable atmosphere. Japanese tea and miso soup served promptly. Very extensive menu with a huge variety of options. Normally I only ever order roll sushi, but tonight I ordered the Teriyaki Salmon meal off the Special Dinner section of the menu, and a California roll, and it was delicious. Literally everything was delicious. This meal had a sampling of tempura, roll sushi, a green salad, bowl of rice, rice noodle soup that I don't know the name for and teriyaki salmon on a bed of cabbage and bean sprouts. I hate vegetables, but I ate everything, including the cabbage and bean sprouts. Not sure what magic they worked on cabbage and bean sprouts, but seriously yum! This little restaurant is very close to the YVR (Vancouver) Sheraton, Marriott and Hilton airport hotels. It's a short, easy @ 2 block walk from these hotels along a well lit road. I have not been paid or offered anything in return for this review. This is my honest experience dining here and I highly recommend it. I...
Read moreI recently visited here enticed by their reputation for sushi. While the dishes were satisfactory, the overall experience left much to be desired, primarily due to an uncomfortable situation involving tipping.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was amazing ambiance, nice paintings, which was the first sign that our experience might not meet expectations. The service did a little less to uplift our spirits.
The most off-putting moment of the evening came when we received our bill. Our server, rather than allowing us the discretion to tip according to the service quality, explicitly asked for a tip Atleast 12% minimum. This direct request for gratuity was not only surprising but also put us in an awkward position. It felt like a forced obligation rather than a reward for good service, which was frankly lacking.
Such a blatant disregard for proper dining etiquette overshadowed any positives about our meal. It’s disappointing when the service does not match the quality of the food, and even more so when guests are made to feel uncomfortable over tipping.
Unfortunately, due to this experience, I cannot recommend this place. The unprofessional approach to tipping was a significant deterrent, and it’s unlikely that...
