TL;DR: best place for single to eat out at noon, especially for employee with limited time for lunch. You can just come and order the tonkatsu set, served with shredded cabbage and miso soup, or katsudon (egg, mushroom, zucchini). Normally don't need to wait at noon, and somewhat near Aberdeen skytrain station. One star off just for lacking of vegetable variation and normally busy at night.
Been a loyal customer since soft opening (around pandemic starts), first impression was "this place takes its name to extreme, every area of the menu has chicken in it, even the house salad has chicken". It became my chicken go-to place since the first visit. However, it is the discovery of fish tonkatsu turning this place to my weekly visit. The tonkatsu set itself has very balanced diet mentioned above, and the deep fired fish is not as heavy as other meat options. Despite been covered by paper thin crisply cloth, the fish meat is lightly cooked and seasoned so that the raw taste and texture are preserved. It also comes with a house made tartar(ish?) sauce which can refresh your taste buds. Since then I only order fish tonkatsu or fish/cheese pork combo from this place, until accidentally ordered a fish katsudon. From the name, I thought it is just the tonkatsu but putting everything in a bowl, but it has very different dinning experience than tonkatsu thanks to the special katsudon sauce and mixed vegetables. It is the best katsudon I've ever had in my life and soon became second favourite dish. This place is a lowkey hidden spot in Richmond with tons of Asian restaurant, like the tonkatsu and katsudon (and cheese ball) on the menu largely promoting its chicken. Hope my review can help customers discovering the full potential...
Read moreThe Oz Chicken in Richmond is one of the gems in Richmond for the most delicate and tender katsudon at a reasonable price. It's hard to find anything here that measures up to what they offer in terms of value, taste, and portion size. I learned that the secret to a delicate batter is through the use of cornstarch vs flour as shown in the pictures here from several visits. My girlfriend and I love their Katsu Chicken.
There's a light crisp to each bite, clean flavors, tender, juicy but not greasy at all. It's all around, quality in preparation. I also learned that the owner of this location, Charlie, puts a lot of time and effort in his dishes, constantly improving and finding new ways of cooking, almost like creating art on a plate. He not only has a passion for creating a delicious experience through his own tastes and palette but he also helped me in creating a memorable experience for my mom's birthday, who is one of his biggest fans. She just loves their sundoboo and has to order this every time she comes around. Finding this combination of flavors and care in their dishes and in their customers make them one of the exceptional places to try and to...

We ordered two meals in total, including kimchi pork soup pot and Gillette cheese chicken meal, which tasted quite good.
The kimchi and pork soup pot is very warm and can be kept warm from the beginning to the end. The spiciness is moderate and the ingredients are delicious. It is really suitable for eating in winter. It is appetizing and warm after the meal. It can warm your limbs. , so happy.
At first I thought the Gillette Cheese Chicken would be too greasy, but the Shazin dish is very fresh and sweet, the fried skin is crispy, crispy but not greasy, the sauce is top-notch, and there are some very delicious appetizers and snacks.
The environment is spacious and clean, the music is very soft, you can eat slowly and sit comfortably, it is a very cost-effective restaurant.
