Exceptional Dining Experience at Szechuan Tales Restaurant 川说
After an unfortunate and disappointing encounter at Mr. Beigai BBQ 北丐先生—where I experienced a lack of basic courtesy and hospitality—I had the pleasure of discovering Szechuan Tales Restaurant 川说 in Richmond, BC. The difference in service and overall atmosphere was immediately apparent, and truly refreshing.
From the moment I stepped in, I was warmly welcomed by the staff. Their attentiveness, professionalism, and genuine enthusiasm for sharing Sichuan cuisine elevated the entire dining experience. The dishes were not only authentic but also thoughtfully presented, showcasing a perfect balance of bold flavours and delicate spice levels that Sichuan cuisine is renowned for.
What particularly stood out was the consistency in quality—from the freshness of the ingredients to the richness of the broths and the perfectly executed textures. Whether it was the classic mouth-numbing mala dishes or more subtle home-style offerings, every plate reflected a deep respect for culinary tradition.
Unlike my experience at Mr. Beigai BBQ, where I felt disregarded as a customer, Szechuan Tales made me feel truly valued. It's clear that this restaurant prioritizes not only its food but also the experience and satisfaction of each guest.
I highly recommend Szechuan Tales Restaurant 川说 to anyone seeking an authentic and respectful Sichuan dining experience in Richmond. I will certainly...
Read moreThis was my second visit to this restaurant after tirelessly searching for the best fried eggplant dish in Vancouver during our most cherished international trip. The first time, I had high expectations based on the mouthwatering photos—and they did not disappoint! Eggplant dishes can be tricky since they easily soak up oil, but this restaurant absolutely nails it. Their fried eggplant is perfectly crispy and crusty on the outside, while staying moist, juicy, and flavorful on the inside. Here’s what I think makes up their amazing dish: Chinese eggplants Likely a coating of cornstarch & eggs Oyster sauce or sweet soy sauce Fresh jalapeños Fresh garlic Fresh cilantro Fresh spring onions Frying oil (vegetable or canola?) A hint of citrus—perhaps lemon Pork-based broth?
The dish is pure bliss, especially when it’s fresh from the fryer. It’s so incredible that I’m inspired to recreate it at home!
My only critique is with the service, which I rated 4 stars. While the waitress was kind, she didn’t know if the dish was vegetarian and didn’t check with the chef when asked. I would have appreciated more menu knowledge or effort to clarify.
That aside, this dish is an absolute must-try for...
Read moreI normally don't do much reviews, but this place left an impression.
This is a new restaurant that opened recently. and we went there on a Saturday evening. The place we normally go was full, so we decided to give this place a try.
This place has the best Chinese pastries I've had. Just simple steam buns that goes with the food or the fried pancake tasted better than other places. It was very light, and fluffy. The dumplings were freshly made, not frozen. My daughter said they were the best she had.
Its not super spicy, and you can let them know how spicy you want, so those of use, like me who normally avoid spicy food can handle it well.
Portion sizes were also good, and flavours were all very good, nothing canned, or bottled it all tasted very fresh.
The service was also great for a Chinese restaurant, asked how the food was, etc. Nothing bad to say about this...
