Was picking up a food delivery on New years eve, and the person working at this store refused to give it up. It was an uber delivery, and uber does not require items go in insulated bags, regardless of store policy. Uber times the pickup and matches up the closest driver (food or passenger) right as the food is being packaged up, so it gets picked up right away and delivered to the customer in under 10 minutes from when it leaves the oven. This is faster than their own delivery drivers, which was out on a delivery.
By refusing to give the order to the courier, the courier can reject the order, still get transit pay to the restaurant, and move on to the next food delivery with a cooperative restaurant, then the customers food just sits around until uber can successfully pull another driver from somewhere else in the city, causing the customers food to cool down before its picked up.
If the restaurant does not want to follow policy with their delivery company, then they should not be offering pizzas on uber, because if uber redirects a passenger uber to pick up food, it's because they are closest. And the passenger uber drivers don't have pizza bags.
