I am an Indigenous woman and I had to abruptly use the washroom tonight as I just came in from out of town so I pulled into A and W on 8th street on Wednesday May 28th, 8:35 PM. I went inside to the washroom and as I was using the washroom a female employee came in did not use the washroom but basically stood behind me as I washed my hands. She just stood there staring at me. It was extremely uncomfortable. I was going to pick up a burger and fries but due to what I experienced I decided to pick up food elsewhere. I am a foodie at heart and I travel and place reviews based on experience. I can say that this establishment trains their employees to to follow Indigenous people into the washroom as I cannot see any other reason as to why an employee would feel the need to do this? I am also completing my second bachelor degree so I am a people analyst and watcher. I did notice that the employee came out of the washroom directly after I left the washroom so she did not use the washroom to wash her hands. This to me is also a food hazard because she basically touched a dirty door handle to enter the washroom, did not wash her hands then exited and went directly back to the food station. If you become ill at this restaurant I would definitely document the date, time and keep your receipt and see a physician to have it documented. The employees are not following...
Read moreUsually enjoy A&W however went at 4am yesterday and had the most hostile encounter at a place I’ve ever had.
Was ordering food when the employee came over the mic to ask me for a moment, however the mic cut out and I didn’t hear anything of what she said besides “ can I just” to which I replied “what” and then another employee came into the mic and was extremely hostile saying “EXCUSE ME SHE ASKED YOU FOR A MINUTE IS THAT OKAY WITH YOU” to which I tried to say yes and explain that I didn’t hear everything she had said and instead I couldn’t reply because she immediately was dismissive and rude telling me they “weren’t going to serve me goodnight”.
I then went to the drive through window and waited for her to ask her why the hostile attitude towards me and to get her name, she was still dismissive while “apologizing” I couldn’t get a word in and she immediately said “I can take your order now but I don’t have time to sit here and discuss this with you” then slammed the drive thru window in my face after.
8th st employee older lady with dark black hair don’t reccomend service from her.
Thank you to the assistant manager Eliza for handling the situation later this morning when I called, that is how you deal with...
Read moreWent through the drivethru around supper time. Was greeted and me and my friend wanted to make two separate orders and it seemed like a hassle. We started ordering and the girl taking our order with like purple hair or something was extremely rude and got extremely flustered and after every single thing we said she had to take 30 seconds to ring it in because her machine was glitching. As it took a whole 5 minutes to order two meals. My friend asked for chipotle sauce on her poutine cause it’s good and the worker rudely says “okay??” And as time went on it seemed apparent she was annoyed, mumbling “oh my god.” Under her breath so we could hear. I’m not sure whether it was due to their system or our order having modifications but either way I felt I welcomed and almost cancelled the order and went to McDonald’s. It was like asking her to do her job was an inconvenience. I have worked at A&W myself, and that level of service is not good. I also can’t imagine what the 5 cars behind me thought of me when it took 5 minutes to order two meals....
