As a former server myself, the service we received today was absolutely horrendous. I would never treat a paying customer the way the blonde-haired, middle-aged waitress treated our table. Right from the start, we were met with a clearly annoyed server, rolling her eyes, leaning over the booth, and acting completely exasperated and hostile, all because we took a few minutes to decide on our order. When we realized we’d forgotten to order appetizers and asked to add them, we were rudely told the food had already been sent to the kitchen, but that she’d “go tell them” to make the appetizers first. When our food came out, only one of the four of us was actually happy with their meal. The rest of us couldn’t even finish ours. The tacos were soaking wet, with puddles of liquid left on the plate. Why are we draining tacos? The enchiladas were bland to the point that the only thing you could taste was the green sauce on top. The bowl we ordered was basically untouched because of how bad it was. The only good thing we had was the chicken quesadilla. When it came time to pay, we tipped based on the service, which honestly was more than she deserved. She came over, stared at the machine (probably to see what she got tipped) and once the receipt printed, her attitude somehow got even worse. She asked, “Do you want this?” and when we said no thank you, she tossed the receipt down on the table and walked away in a huff. We were all so taken aback by her behavior that we had the minors at our table leave and wait in the car so we could speak to her. When we asked why she threw the receipt and why she was being so rude, she talked over us, turned her back, walked away, and completely ignored everything we said. She then claimed that every time she checked on us, we were “boasting” about how great everything was, which is completely untrue. In fact, at one point it was mentioned to her directly that a plate wasn’t enjoyed. You’d think that would have been a perfect opportunity to try and fix something or at least show some basic level of care, but she did nothing. This place might have been worth the price if the food and service had been even remotely good. It was our first time here and definitely the last. What a complete gong show. Not sure if she’s the manager or just on some kind of power trip, but this is not how you treat customers or run a business. I’d hate to be one of her coworkers/employees because she clearly makes everyone around her miserable. I honestly wish I could...

I went to Las Palapas recently for dinner with my family, my first visit in quite a while, and it turned out to be a really nice experience. The place felt much bigger than I remembered, with different dining areas and a lively bar. You don’t realize how spacious it is until you walk further in. The atmosphere was warm, fun, and full of energy, which really suits a Mexican restaurant in Saskatoon.

The service was friendly and helpful. Our server answered all our questions about the food and drinks and made us feel comfortable right away.

We started with the taco chips. They were fine, just nothing too special compared to other Mexican spots I’ve tried. You do have to order them as a side, which felt a little unusual since most places usually bring the first batch for free.

For the main dish, we shared the fajitas for two, and they were excellent. The portion was huge, with chicken, beef, shrimp, cheese, lettuce, and a few sauces. You get eight tortillas and can choose between wheat or corn. We swapped ours so all eight were the same. There are extra sides you can order for an additional cost, but we found the fajitas alone more than enough.

We also tried a few other items. The coconut shrimp was delicious and perfectly crispy, definitely a five out of five. The chicken taco had great flavour and a little kick of spice, though it was on the smaller side, so I’d give it a four out of five. The poblanos bowl was another hit, very flavourful and nicely balanced, five out of five. For dessert, we had the Sinner and Saint chocolate cake, which was more on the average side.

Overall, Las Palapas has a great vibe, especially on the patio. The food was tasty, the service was good, and the atmosphere made it a fun night out. I’d definitely...

Las Palapas serves as a microcosm of existentialism, blending the essence of being with the essence of flavor. Each dish, a manifestation of the chef's creative prowess, embodies the essence of existence—complex, multifaceted, and rich with meaning.

The menu, a testament to the diverse landscapes of Mexico, beckons the diner to embark on a gastronomic odyssey. From the fiery depths of molten salsa to the serene heights of creamy guacamole, Las Palapas offers a spectrum of flavors that mirror the human experience itself.

In the realm of aesthetics, Las Palapas transcends mere sustenance to become an artistic expression. Every dish is a canvas, meticulously crafted with colors, textures, and shapes that evoke a symphony of emotions. It's not just food; it's a visual and tactile journey that nourishes not only the body but also the soul.

Moreover, dining at Las Palapas fosters a sense of communal unity, echoing the ideals of social contract theory. Here, strangers become companions, bound by the shared experience of savoring life's pleasures. In breaking bread together, patrons affirm their interconnectedness, transcending the boundaries of individuality to embrace the collective spirit of humanity.

In essence, Las Palapas is more than just a restaurant—it's a philosophical sanctuary where existential musings intertwine with culinary craftsmanship. It invites us to ponder the nature of existence while indulging in the simple joys of food and fellowship. As the philosopher Epicurus once said, "We should look for someone to eat and drink with before looking for something to eat and drink." And in Las Palapas, one finds both sustenance for the body and nourishment...

I was here a short time ago for dinner with a group of family. It was my first time back here in quite some time. Las Palapas was much bigger than most of us could remember. It has many different sections or areas with lots of tables and a bar area to sit at. It’s much bigger than it feels like when you first walk in and the atmosphere was very good for a Mexican restaurant in Saskatoon. The service here was also very good and helpful with any questions we had about the food or drinks. Now for the food we got a couple orders of the taco chips to start and try, they were okay but nothing special compared to many of the other Mexican restaurants I have been to. You also have to order the chips as a side or extra as pretty much every other Mexican restaurant I have been to either brings you them automatically with out even asking for free or at least the first batch. I also had the fajitas for two that were very good and it was definitely for two. You get 8 wraps 4 wheat and 4 corn or swap them out so all 8 are the same as we did, chicken, beef, shrimp, cheese, lettuce, and a few sauces. There is other sides you can get with your fajitas for a fee that you normally get at other Mexican restaurants but for the two of us this was enough and we didn’t need them. We both enjoyed our fajitas and we all enjoyed the atmosphere and time together here. I would come back here again in the future.

I like this place a lot. Maybe I’m biased cuz it’s a two minute walk from my place but still. However it is not without its flaws. In particular, the beef enchilada is kind of a mess. There is mayo, sour cream, cheese, and tomato sauce. The tomato sauce is kind of strange paired with the other flavours and doesn’t blend well overall. The sour cream and mayo are both cream based and thus redundant. I’d say pick one, the sour cream, and drop the tomato sauce. It’s even off to the side and it feels like it doesn’t belong. It’s a dish being pulled into too many directions and as a result, doesn’t really go anywhere. However, the chicken mole enchilada is quite the opposite. This dish picks one direction and does it well. The mole sauce is a rich and deep sauce full of chocolatey and spicy notes . This dish feels much more put together. Even the crushed nuts on top are a nice touch that add some texture. Overall, less is more. If my pallet is being pulled into five different directions it just gets confused. One strong identity makes for a much more solid and less messy dish.

I would echo some other reviews thst parking can be a bit hard to find. There is 2 spots in front and then about 4 stalls on the north side of the building. I ended up just parking on the street on the north side. The vibe in here is quite cool. Neat decorations throughout the restaurant gives it a unique feel. I kicked things off with a Saskatoon berry mojito ($1 off on Mondays) and had the Chipotle beef burrito. The drink was excellent with a nice local flare from the Saskatoon berries. The price of the burrito is pretty reasonable but I found the burrito to be a bit on the small side for me. It was tasty though, electing for the side of sour cream. I would recommend someone ordering this burrito. To fill me up though I ordered two tacos. I went with the shredded chicken and the shredded beef pork both on corn. Both delicious, and about the size you would expect. The shredded pork came with Parmesan cheese which I found to be an interesting but tasty combination. Overall quite enjoyed this Mexican place. I would come here again for sure!
