Feedback on Boston Pizza's Baked with Cheese Pasta: A Noticed Decline in Value
This review pertains to a recent experience with Boston Pizza's pasta selection, specifically the "baked with cheese" add-on, which carries an additional charge of $4. As a returning customer who has enjoyed this option in the past, I've observed a significant and concerning change in the product's quantity and value proposition.
Historically, opting for the "baked with cheese" upgrade meant receiving a pasta dish generously covered with melted cheese, providing a substantial enhancement for the additional cost. My recent order, however, revealed a stark departure from this expectation. While the take-out packaging remained consistent in size, the cheese coverage on the pasta was remarkably sparse. From visual assessment, it appeared to cover approximately 20% of the pasta surface, a considerable reduction compared to previous experiences where the entire dish would be blanketed.
This noticeable decrease in the amount of cheese, despite the continued $4 upcharge, immediately brings to mind the concept of 'shrinkflation.' For an additional premium, customers reasonably expect a perceptible and worthwhile enhancement to their meal. The current offering for the "baked with cheese" option falls short of delivering this value, leading to a sense of disappointment and questioning the justification for the added cost. The visual evidence of diminished coverage significantly impacts the perceived quality and overall satisfaction of the upgrade.
While operational costs for restaurants can fluctuate, making such a substantial reduction in a specific add-on’s quantity, especially without an accompanying price adjustment or clear communication, risks eroding customer trust and loyalty. It suggests a focus on cost-cutting that directly impacts the customer experience.
Boston Pizza might consider re-evaluating the value provided by this particular upcharge. Options could include restoring the original, more generous cheese quantity to align with the $4 price point, or adjusting the price of the add-on to reflect the significantly reduced portion. The current situation leads customers to consider alternative solutions, such as individually adding cheese at home, which ultimately diminishes the appeal and purpose of ordering this premium enhancement from the restaurant itself.
In conclusion, my recent experience with Boston Pizza's "baked with cheese" Jambalaya Fettuccini option was underwhelming due to a substantial reduction in cheese quantity for the same, or at least unconfirmed, price. I hope Boston Pizza takes this feedback constructively to ensure their premium add-ons continue to offer genuine value and meet the expectations of their loyal...
Read moreI did not get good service here. Came to the lounge here after golfing with my grandpa, brother, and dad for father's day and we were looking forwards to some food while the hockey game was on.
My grandpa and brother arrived before us and waited 10 minutes to be noticed even though the lounge was half full and everyone was already eating. The server said she'd be right back and never came back. After my dad and I joined them we waited another 15 minutes, waiving at servers and them walking away and talking/hanging out at the bar. Nobody even came in after us.
Finally we waive someone down and she quickly takes our drink order and leaves, took 10 minutes to recieve them IN THE LOUNGE. We are 35 minutes into our stay here at this point and haven't even given a food order. The server who got our drinks apparently gave away our table so she could talk at the bar because a different one came up to take our food order.
Food was made fast but (fault of Boston pizzas, not the cooks or staff) portions are very small for the price, bandera bread has 10 small wedges for almost 20 bucks, a wings order is 8 of the smallest wings you'll find. We order the calamari as we had gift cards to use up and that is the smallest calamari you could find, they are not even as big as a ring you would wear on your finger.
We couldn't even be interested in buying dinner here after brutal service and their menu delivering weak portions and basic taste that you could out do at home.
The food issue is on the company as the cooks must not have been busy, they cooked fast, the service was very very weak considering we could see them standing around and everybody else was served. Shouldn't have to wait as long as we did just to be helped when they saw us waiving at them and continued chatting...
Read moreWell, we like to take the small children out once a week to a restaurant to give them a treat. We had to get up and ask the hostess to send over a waitress after we waited for 15-20 mins. Food came and it was typical BP’s food. We find ourselves waiting again for the waitress to come by so we can ask for ketchup and peppers, had to wave down a different waitress cause we couldn’t see ours. Then waiting again for the kids desserts. I had to stand up and walk towards the kitchen to ask for the bill, a box, and m&m’s for the kids. I walk around the corner and there is all of the staff standing leaning on the counter like it was a team meeting. I ask our waitress, can I get our bill and walked back to the table. Another waitress walks out (not our waitress). Yes, I did let out a couple of swears under my breath because of course the first thing you read on the machine is what tip would you like to give 15% and up. I said what service and tipped 9%. So the waitress that had the machine goes and tells the manager that I swore at her or whatever (not the case) the manager comes out and gives me crap for swearing at the staff. My wife and I laughed after, because that was not the case. I tried to tell the manager that we waited 15-20 mins at the start and she cuts me off and tells me not to come back. I recommend you take your families else where and tip people that want to provide a proper service. The manager at this location did not have the brain power to ask what the problem was or discuss anything at all. I think that shows a...
