The prices are very good, especially for the family meals which are excellent value. There are some issues, though. I ordered at dinnertime and one of the dishes was only lukewarm when I got home (5 minutes away), though the others were piping hot. The rice is not good. Tastes like instant rice, the fake saffron is unnecessary and gives it a fluorescent appearance. No cardamom or other spices cooked in, so it's very bland. We also did not get the salad that the family meal is supposed to come with, and the gulab jamun seemed a bit stale. The naan was great though, and two out of three dishes were hot, fresh, and very tasty. Overall, mixed feelings. I would consider ordering again, but not likely to do so anytime soon.
Edit: We ordered again. This time the "salad" came with the meal, composed of some dried-out cucumber and old onion. Once again the butter chicken was only lukewarm. It's nice that the owner/manager reached out but I really will not be back this time. Lowering my review from three stars to two after repeated mediocre...
Read moreI really don’t understand how this place is still open, or has any positive reviews. Today was my third time trying it, with several years in between each visit. Previously I had ordered butter chicken both times and thought it was bland and watery, something like tomato soup with chicken in it…
Today I decided to give it another try as I was craving Indian food, thinking it must have something worth while to still be here after all these years.
I ordered a 2 item combo with veg korma and chicken curry, both watery and lacking flavour. I would go so far as to say the veg korma even had a bad flavour.
Yes, a $13 meal is appealing… as long as it is good. However Taste of India is about as enjoyable as a microwave dinner. I can definitively say I will never be back. There are much better options in the area with better quality for your dollar. If this is the only Indian food you have tried just wait till you try something proper. I promise you will...
Read moreWe ordered dinner this past weekend from Taste Of India for a 5pm pick up and our take out meal was ready right on time. When I arrived home the food was wrapped well to prevent spilling and piping hot. We ordered matar paneer, lamb rogan josh, butter chicken, chicken korma, fish pakora, saffron rice, and butter naan. The matar paneer had a deliciously rich creamy sauce and was packed full of peas and paneer. Both the butter chicken and the chicken korma were very flavorful and the chicken was very juicy and tender. The lamb rogan josh was full of lamb and was spiced perfectly. The butter naan was piping hot, crispy, and fresh. The fish pakora was a little bit salty but crisp and very good. The saffron rice had a very light flavour that pleasantly added to each bite. Everything was delicious and spiced well (we asked for mild spice for all). Thank you to Rahim, as well as the chef and restaurant staff for the outstanding meal. We will...
