We have been fortunate to have been blessed with Telly’s Grill. The comfort within the restaurant setting and amazing food with rich flavours bring back memories of Savalas. Although the Smithers Savalas era ended, the amazing food and service experience continues on through family legacy. The owners are amazing people who ensure the customer service is every bit as memorable as the food.
The food is incredibly good. While my favourite and Achilles heel to dieting (bah-duh-bump Get it?), is the lasagna, there are so many other dishes that delight the senses. The donair salad is the perfect blend of vegetables and donair chicken with absolutely divine sweet sauce on the side. The Athenian burger, is much like the name it holds - bringing about wisdom (as it awakens your palate), warfare (if anyone tries to touch my Athenian burger), and handicraft (with it being made in house). After speaking with the owners, I agreed to stray from the lasagna, and tried the baked fettuccini Alfredo. I was not disappointed. The Alfredo sauce is perfect consistency has the impact that so many Alfredo sauces lack. From the roasted potato corn chowder, to the spanakopita… the steak, the burgers, the wings - I have yet to try anything I was unhappy with. I am not generally a “sweets person” and yet love the cheesecake (made in-house).
The beverages range from delicious local beer from the microbrewery, to fantastic Moscow mules (with fresh sprigs of mint), to daily drink specials and so much more - along with a great selection of non-alcoholic beverages.
I am grateful to have Telly’s around here, as the consistency of heightened service, food, and atmosphere brings comfort in a sometimes turbulent world.
*Note: I spoke with a person who works at a community organization that helps those in need. I learned that the owners at Telly’s supplied a holiday dinner for people who were going without. They didn’t do it out of a want for publicity, but out of the kindness of their hearts. Community care like this, is highly commendable, to...
Read moreFirst off - I understand the staffing shortages so we expected service to be slow. And if you go on their Facebook page there is a post saying “if you have a heartbeat we’ll probably hire you” which probably explains our experience. We ordered pita and flaming cheese, and a greek salad. These came out fairly quickly but the salad had an inch and half of oil in the bottom. The cheese dish came with a big plate of cheese and ONE piece of pita. The server came by and asked if we needed anything and we said more pita since there was almost a whole plate of cheese left after the one piece was eaten. We also asked for a piece of cheesecake at the same time. We waited for an hour. For one piece of bread and a piece of cake. By then, our cheese was just cold oil in a dish… gross. We finally said we have to go so we either need our food or we need to leave. The waitress brought us our bill and said it will be another 5-10 minutes. She charged us for the cake and extra piece of pita. Guess she didn’t feel like we deserved even a free piece of bread for our hour long wait. My husband asked her to take them off our bill since we were late getting back for our sitter and couldn’t wait any longer for the food. She ROLLS HER EYES at us and says ‘K’. Not one apology ALL night for the wait. For one. Piece. Of. Pita. We felt really disrespected at that point and still had to pay our full bill. Didn’t get to eat the flaming cheese cause I’m not about to eat cold cheese with a spoon (total rip-off). Sadly, this used to be my go-to restaurant in town but we won’t be coming back again. I’d be better off driving to...
Read moreI have been dying to visit this promising Greek restaurant, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. It is only open in the evenings so I found it very difficult for me to get inside.
The food was amazing, I would highly recommend the specials, there is nothing like it on the menu. The dishes usually involve specific plates of pasta, salads, and meat, generally combined together to make a great meal. This is a great combo, the pasta comes with garlic bread, and salads come with pita bread. There are also specials for deserts as well. It was ice cream with Oreos and whip cream.
The service was excellent, the staff knew what they were doing,
The tone of the lighting mixed with the interesting roof design topped off the entire experience. Telly’s Grill in my opinion is a Top 3 go to...
