Today we went to Earls St. Albert, Alberta for an early dinner. My wife was ranting and raving about how great the Ahi Poke Bowl was at Earls. We ordered two beers, some wings, my meal and my wife’s Ahi Poke Bowl. The manager on duty delivered our food. As he left, my wife and I looked at each other and said, “Where’s the rest of it?” The bowl was half empty. We called over our server. She noticed our dismay, and immediately said; “Let me get the kitchen to make you a new one. Do you want to nibble on this one as you wait for the new one?” We replied, “No that’s okay, you can take it away. We can wait for the new one” Three minutes later the manager returns with what we thought was the new Ahi Poke Bowl. He put the bowl down and said, “I heard the last one was a little dry” Then turned and walked away. They literally served us the original one that we sent back and added some kind of dressing on it. We knew this because my wife had stirred the old one up (See photo). Who does that? Who re-serves food that is sent back? What else is going on in that kitchen? We called the server back and she was mortified when we told her that they served us the original bowl that we sent back. We asked to please bring us our bill as we had lost our appetite. She went to the manager at the bar and returned shortly after to say that the manager wasn’t going to do anything about it. We paid for our bill in full, added 15% for the server as it wasn’t her fault, got up and left without finishing our meals, nor our beers. This was not about getting something for free. My wife just wanted what we went there for, with the quality that she had gotten in the past. Needless the say, we will never go to another Earls anywhere. Let this be a lesson to all restaurants owners/managers. “If a patron sends a meal back, it means it wasn’t to their satisfaction, regardless of the reason. Get them a new one, and you’ll keep that patron for life! Don’t, and you’ll lose them for life!” As the saying goes: “You can put lipstick on a pig, but at the end of the day it’s still a pig!”

A regular stop for myself and my wife. Been a few weeks but stopped in last night (Saturday night 7:30pm) service was fantastic, quick, friendly. Food was terrible. Not sure if it was a menu change, cutting costs etc. Ordered the cajun chicken sandwich , had this many times in the past. This visit it was absolutely disappointing. An overwhelming amount of lettuce/ tomatoes and a sliver of chicken. No cajun flavor, just overcooked charred chicken, wilted lettuce and 3 slices of tomato. And with a hamburger bun now? Definitely not the same meal . Was something you would expect to pay $7 for from a fast food outlet. Wife had the salmon , again very disappointed, salmon was nothing special on a bed of very bland rice. The quality of food will keep us from returning, too many good restaurants in St albert to choose from instead.

Great food as always! A good location for a family lunch and casual visit, however, every time we book for 6 or 8 people there is an issue with seating. The restaurant or lounge are not the best for seating larger parties. 2-4 perfect, anything more there is mass confusion. Service was just ok. Waited for quite some time before orders were taken, had to keep asking for extra napkins, etc. Staff are always friendly but closer attention to the table is needed such as being proactive with clearing plates, glasses, take out containers, etc. We ordered desserts, they then said there is a free birthday dessert and didn't bring it out anyway. Overall Earl's is a great place to have a lunch but there is room for improvement for the service.

This evening my sister and I decided to go for dinner and thought Earls might be an enjoyable place to eat. Our night proceeded like so... We walked into the restaurant and were seated in a booth, there were 6 tables filled with people around us. We needed some time to look over the menu, ordered a drink and the server left us to decide on our meal. Upon ordering our meals, I asked what the difference was between the avocado and quinoa power bowl and the vegan avocado quinoa power bowl, out of curiosity. The server (whose name was Adam, and I feel it appropriate that I state his name), said rudely "the vegan bowl is just gross". Now if I actually had been vegan id have been pretty offended, seeing as I'm not vegan I was still taken back at the tone and choice of words used by Adam. As we finished ordering our food, we chit chatted and waited for our meals, not once did the server come back to ask us how we were doing or if we needed anything, or to apologize for the long wait. In that time a lady, who I believe was the manager, came up to us and asked if everything was okay, could she tell by my arms being crossed and our looking around the restaurant for a half hour waiting that something might be wrong? By the time we actually got our food, the 6 tables around us had been fully cleared, a large table by the front entrance was seated (a good amount of time after we had been seated) with people who had already ordered and received their food and eaten about half of their meal. We received our meal and expressed to the waiter that it sure took a long time. His response was a sarcastic and rude "it's busy". We had spoken to the manager a second time when we finished our meal (which my power bowl had a hair in that I chose not to mention), still not feeling great about the way we were treated, then being told that our server has been talked to about his attitude before. The evening concluded with the manager comping my fries and sisters drink (which we appreciate, thank you) and two customers who were still very upset and unimpressed when leaving the restaurant. You go to a restaurant expecting to have great service and to be respected by the server the same way that we, the customer, would respect you. Very disappointed. If someone needs to be spoken to multiple times about their "attitude" when working or about their service, maybe they shouldn't be working there. Will most likely not be going back to Earls, at least for a good...

Where do I even start... This is a hit or miss place more miss if anything.

We've been here 3 times now and it's been flip flop.

First time we went there for bunch. The service was very slow our server was talking to laughing and talking to friends when we're and other customers are waiting to put our order in. We both ordered the Super avocado eggs benedict medium and soft, both orders the eggs were rock hard might as well be hard boiled. We sent it back and assumed the so called chef was just having an off day. Order came back the same, over cooked eggs. I sent mine back again and they FINALLY got the order right. We both left dissatisfied and disappointed. Paid for both orders but whatever. Our server sounded very annoyed when we sent our meals back.

Second time, they nailed everything perfectly the server was great and friendly, food was fast even tho it was busy. Everything tasted delicious. 5/5 No complaints. Perfect brunch.

Third time...thinking it would be the same as the second. Guess not at all. We go there for bunch again not knowing it would be our last time going to Earls. We order the Super Avocado Eggs Benedict with Ham. Both orders eggs were over cooked and the potatoes were rocked hard. We sent ours back once again hoping they could get it right again. Our server was great (I'm sorry I forgot your name) but she said she'd talk to the cooks and get it fixed. Got our order they still didn't get the eggs right. Over cook all the way through, the potatoes were still hard and they forgot the ham. At this point I was done. Our server was very apologetic but we understand it's not her fault she's doing her best. She comps me my meal and my wife didn't mind paying for hers cause it wasn't as bad as mine.

Update: We lied, we decided to give it another shot for patio drinks and a quick lunch. We got seated fast around 3pm. I got the Bacon Cheese Burger, fries and side of gravy. I would skip on the gravy, has a deep maybe underlying burnt taste to it. My wife go Kung pow Chicken with 4 chilies, it was great and 4 chilies was perfect amount of heat (we both like things spicy). Overall the meal was great, and the service was excellent. They did surprise us at the end by compensating our meal for what we believe we're previous issues in the past.

Patio is always a great spot to go been there a couple times in the past for drinks and enjoying the sun. If you're looking for a good patio place, definitely...

I am torn to write a review or not, but decided to.... we attended the restaurant this evening (April 6,2018), and was met with less than satisfactory service. Our waitress was good- however the food was repulsive for the most part. My partner ordered a starter clam chowder, which he thoroughly enjoyed (yay!) but when the mains came it was a different story. His burger was pink in the middle. I ordered the crispy chicken tenders and Alfredo penne; the chicken was certainly not “crispy”, rather soggy and pink inside; the Alfredo penne was bland. I could have dealt with soggy and bland, but pink- nope. We advised our waitress of the undercooked meat (she noted it was disgusting). The young female manager came over and assured us she had shown the sous chef our concerns but “it’s been cooked to spec”. Offered to refire the meal, towhich I replied no, as at this point I was repulsed. I asked for the bill as I was wanting to leave. The manager came back, and again “wanted to ensure us the food wasn’t undercooked, and didn’t want us to leave worried we would get sick”. The manager also wanted me to talk to the sous chef and chef (why would I talk to them when you’ve already said they claimed it’s fine? I am not going to waste more of my time in your establishment) I’m sorry, but the managers insistence was not reassuring. She said since we didn’t eat the meal there would be no charge. I appreciate not being charged for our drinks, or the soup. However, when there is blatant pink in hamburger and pink plus red vein in the chicken...I am fairly certain it isn’t cooked to spec. Regardless, if a customer has legitimate concerns perhaps acknowledg them and try it to make them feel like a moron. Not too happy sitting here at home with a stomach ache and vomiting. Again, I am happy to not have been charged and I acknowledge some people will eat beef that’s pink, however the pink chicken is inexcusable. I just wish I would have taken pictures. Edit: the drinks consisted of an iced tea and a coke. Nothing fancy, no booze. We were just looking for a nice dinner out. Doubtful we will be back as this was the last...
