Read moreIve been here a lot over the last year after moving to the area. A lot of the food there is mediocre at best but there are a few items that I still go there for.
Today, I decided to walk over to Mitchell's to get donuts instead of going to a place like Tim Hortons (I wanted to support local and small businesses). When I went to cash out, there were about three people in line. The second cashier opened up and the two people ahead of me wouldn't go over, so I did. She said "what do you want?", and I replied "I was hoping to get two donuts". Once again she said "what do you want?". Thinking that she didn't hear what I said, I replied "two donuts please". She said "no. Which ones?". I said, "i'm not sure yet, I was hoping to point them out to the other cashier." (as they have no names on them and it's not Tim Hortons where I know all of the names). Instead of allowing me to pay for two donuts and sending me over to get them from the other counter, she said "Fine. You can go back into the other line then." And took the next customer.
By this time, there were about 7 people in line. Some with carts full of stuff. I pondered for a moment and just left.
I felt a little upset as I had already waited my turn in line. All that she had to do was cash me out so that the other cashier could pass me the donuts (which I had already witnessed her do for other customers) but instead, she made me feel like I didn't belong there and I was a bother to her.
As others have said, the older staff here can be very rude and make for a very unpleasant experience. I will not be returning for many years or until most of the older staff...
Read moreI shopped here few times, as friend recommended 'hot plate' servings. I thought to have shepherds pie for lunch, and while waiting in line, noticed there was one piece already put in the open box to go, for somebody, just not finished packing it up yet.
When my turn to order, young man was ready to take that box and give it to me. I refused to have that piece that was sitting in this box out in the open for all this time I was waiting in the line getting cold. Not sure if he understood how odd that was, I tried to explain my POV: "if you walk into Tim Hortons, and there is a coffee in the cup sitting on the counter without the lid, and you order a coffee and they just take that cup and put lid on it after it was sitting like that on a side?" he still did not seem to get it how inappropriate that offer was from him, and disrespectful that he did not even ask me whether I would mind to get that piece. His only concern was that he can not cut the fresh piece from new batch until old one was gone, so he wont sell me pie unless I take this one. I may be hungry, but I would not be accepting somebody else's plate, while clerk acts that is normal practice in this store. Out of courtesy, I just took lasagna instead, while I could have easily walk out without having any meal at that point.
bottom line, Thank you for reminding me that I can cook pie,...
