WORST EXPERIENCE IN B.C.
My wife and I (27 & 29) came to Sunpeaks to enjoy the slopes, the atmosphere, and get away from the big city. On our second evening, we decided to try Bottoms Bar & Grill. After being seated, our server came up to us and asked if we will be having drinks or food or both. To which we replied that we will only be having food, as we don’t drink alcohol. To which our server responded by asking us for our ID. This was surprising, as it wasn’t advertised anywhere that you could only eat at their establishment if you had ID with you. Nevertheless, we tried our best to oblige to this request. I had my ID on me, and my wife only had a photo of her ID on her phone. Our server rejected the photograph as she wanted a physical ID. We were a bit shocked, as we live in B.C. and this hasn’t happened to us before as we don’t drink. Our server gave us a careless apology and told us to go to another restaurant nearby where they probably won’t ask us for ID. Without making any scene, we simply left since we were refused service. After leaving we decided to read up on the relevant laws in B.C. and to our disgust, we found that we were acting entirely within the law. As it was only 19:00, and I (spouse) was able to provide my ID. I suggest that employees learn the laws before they impose them incorrectly and reject any future customers. After seeing the food, I doubt that we missed anything. We will not be returning to this restaurant and we ended up having a nice...
Read moreCame to Bottoms with my family for dinner over the weekend, it was busy and there was no seating inside so we were seated outside. Within a minute the restaurant host seated us on a table, the problem being that it was not properly cleaned as he had simply seen an unused table with garbage on it still, moved off the garbage, wiped it once, and sat us down. Then we ordered drinks and started off with some appetizers. No later than a couple minutes after we receive our food, heavy rainfall ensued and despite having many umbrellas for the tables, the restaurant crew stood by under cover and watched as many of the customers seated outside got wet. Not that they made no effort at all, but very little, most making none. For my family, we had to go get an umbrella ourselves, and try to set it up on the table all while getting soaked. My chair personally covered in water, I had to stand while eating and no one cared.
Overall the experience wasn't great, from the initial seating, to getting soaked in the rain while the restaurant crew stood by and watched, I have to give Bottoms Bar & Grill a 2/5. I wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends or family.
Edit: Just to clarify why I gave 2/5, with mains averaging around $20 and an order of Nachos with chicken running $29 I didn't expect the type of service I got. With that said the staff appeared to be friendly which is the only reason I gave a 2...
Read moreWorst bar I ever experimented. We are locals and went several times there during the winter season. Decided to never come again that’s for sure.
First, the staff is awful : rude, super not welcoming and I already heard some of the staff talking and being racist.. totally unacceptable. The short blond guy is the worst of the all team, he usually wait at the door to let people in and see himself like the security of the Berghain, saying no to some people and yes to others just by juging them. Dude you are just working for a little bar in a village, chill out 😂. This little guy doesn’t have a lot of chance in life to be frustrating people like that.
Second, there is no vibe here : most of the time they let you wait in the cold in a line up even if there is 15 people in the bar doing nothing 😂. The music is so low and most of the time you can’t even dance on it as you don’t hear anything, and you can hear clearly everybody talking around you.
There is so many better bars in Sun Peaks as the 540, the Morrisey etc etc, that I would definitely not recommend to give any money to these...
