Reading the description/reviews etc. on this site, we [wife & I ] decided to try this out as we generally like well prepared sechuan foods. We ordered 5 items [1 of which was solely for me as a particular favourite] : Yangchou fried rice, diced chicken with cashews, Ginger beef, sweet & sour pork and chicken chow mein [mine]. Utterly and totally disappointing. Except, maybe, for the pork nothing was either fried, or sauced. Particularly the ginger beef and chow mein. The so-called yangchou 'fried' rice had certainly never felt the heat of a fry pan, seemed more over boiled, had very little taste and was more sticky than glue. In the chicken/cashew dish the meat was at least tender but you couldn't tell it was chicken from the taste of it. What little sauce there was in it was nore like dishwater 2nd time around. At one time the pork must have been comfy in it's crispy coat but it had been covered with a blanket of syrupy coating masqerading as 'saucy'. The ginger beef was devoid of any recognition as such and would have had the originator of the dish in Calgay screaming for mercy. The beef had been cooked I can't imagine how, was not at all crispy and, again, was sauceless. As for the chow mein.....let's just say forget about it. Spaghetti it was rather than chow mein noodles, unfried and totally unsauced,,,,,,,,again. The whole meal was, at best, I suppose, edible but terrible. And expensive! A total waste....
Read moreFinally, found the Don Asian Kitchen at the very corner of shopping mall. We ordered two dishes to go, 'Crispy Duck' and 'Pork intestine with dried chili'. Paid bill upon ordered and got receipt, realized the price is way high but hope the food would be fine. We were waiting for the dishes while the waitress rushed to us, told us the two dishes were ready to go. While we were about to go and tried to open the door, the waitress shouted pretty aloud asked if we have paid. There are a few customers were staring at us. Weird, Rude, Really bad attitude! The two dishes both were covered with hard paper. The worst, worst part is that the 'Crispy Duck' might be way over-cooked or over-burnt, in disgusting black color. Very dry to the bone, like remaining from days before. For the 'Pork intestine with dried chili', covered with a thick layer of cheap dried chili, just a little bit of Pork Intestine, under-cooked like raw, even no salt added.
What a place! All garbage should...
Read moreDon’t be deceived by the pictures. We ordered take out hoping for some good Chinese food, and were very disappointed. Although not one to complain about food, the noodles were very greasy and lacked flavor and it seemed that the majority of the chicken lo mein had sprouts in it. The beef was tough to chew and had a very strange flavor - it was almost inedible. The spring rolls were also very greasy and lacking flavor. The wonton soup didn’t taste like soup, it tasted like wontons in water. We called in to share our experience, and the woman who we spoke to was very rude. Feeling ill - it’s a first from Chinese food, and a last from this place. Definitely not worth it. You’re better off ordering from...
