Rotten week old sashimi. Then the rude server Chen tells me maybe I’m not use to raw fish. Super insulting then when 2 of our party of 4 didn’t tip she demanded to know why. Probably worst experience ever. Gone down hill avoid the worst sushi. Even worst than maple sushi.
Update to restaurants response. Thank you for your kind words and you sound like a reasonable gentleman, but unfortunately I will have to decline. As i just don’t feel safe dining in an establishment where a staff member is aloud to feel comfortable enough that her manager is to soft to do anything if she screams at customers over what percentage of tip they leave after insulting rude service. Even if your practice of serving old salmon that starts to smell like rotting seaweed at Whiterock beach is now thrown out. I cant chance coming in with Chen is working there as she is 1000% they type to spit in my soup. Have to take a hard pass till you get a manager with a spine that will fire staff like Chen and teach your new staff that your customers are from Vancouver the Sushi capital of the world out side if Tokyo and the hometown to inventing the California roll and grew up eating eat sushi instead of McDonald’s as it’s cheaper for school lunch since elementary school. So don’t insult them telling there not use to raw fish. When they have probably eaten more of it that you and it’s it exactly why they won’t eat it when it’s rotting. Any good fishermen will tell you when a fish is freshly caught and filleted it is near odourless and smells like the back of your hand. When it starts to smell fishy that is not because it is a fish that is because it’s rotting wish starts to happen 24hrs after death or thawing. Here in metro vancouver we have the most sushi restaurants in the world outside of Tokyo so customers won’t tolerate rude servers or restaurants trying to save food...
Read moreThe sushi is good, though the teriyaki dishes leave some to be desired. Be sure to SPECIFY when you're getting takeout for MULTIPLE PEOPLE and picking up ALONE. My boyfriend went in to pick up our order tonight and I didn't get any wasabi in my container or a pair of chopsticks. I'm just glad our food was placed in separate containers as I would have been unable to eat any of my food if it had been touching his as I have a fish allergy. Also, I ordered the vegetable roll combo since we were in a hurry, and I had been eyeing it for a while. That middle roll looks like yam tempera, but no, it's salad in a roll. Gross. The only thing I could eat from the combo was the avocado roll. It would be nice if they specified which rolls went into which combo on their take-out menu. I will say that I appreciate them putting the fishless/meatless items in green text so I know at a glance what I can and cannot order. Also, I cannot dine-in there. Everyone who goes in is overdressed and one of the first and only times we sat-in, there was a nasty, racist, homophobic, loud couple(?) who...
Read moreWe usually go to the Strawberry Hill location so decided to give this one a try. We were not greeted upon arrival, and showed ourselves to a table. The restaurant was not busy, but it took a while to receive a menu. The server was so rude, and had no manners or table side manner. We asked for a side and never received it, and had to leave our table to find someone to settle the cheque because no one ever came back to our table after our food was served.
We mentioned our experience to the “manager” and received no apology just an “Ohhh?”. It may have been a language barrier but nonetheless we will not be returning.
How upsetting. Do better Kami...
