So, here is a comment I made on there Facebook post after I couldn’t understand why there Valentines “Special menu” prices were 20.00 more than the regular menu prices for the exact same meals. I did my research to confirm I wasn’t missing anything, then I called and spoke to there owner thinking maybe they were including something not listed to bring up the value. That was a big nope! It’s a good thing I copied my comment because they deleted it with 2 mins and blocked me! Now I have been going to Galini Greek Kouzina and Grill for many, many years. Yes the portions have gotten a lot smaller, yes they stopped giving out the free soup to everyone as an appy and yes the prices have gone up. All this I can forgive. What I can’t forgive is a blatant rip-off by a local business and the smugness of the owner as he laughed at me and said “everybody does it”. No you #%+#%# not everybody does it, in fact, most places give you a little extra, just because. Remember when you used to give that little extra? You stopped being good when you stopped doing that. Wonder why your sales are down and you’re not as busy? Think about it. Yes, I know this because for over 10 years I have driven by your place every night on the way home from work at 5:15 and have noticed your parking lot is not nearly as full as it used to be. I can’t wait to see what’s going to open once your gone, I’m sure they won’t treat there regulars THAT BUILT YOUR BUSINESS like you do. Goodbye forever Galini’s This is my Facebook comment that was deleted by them: “This is a rip off. You’re charging more than the regular prices off the menu. I’m not paying extra just because it’s Valentine’s Day. You’re taking advantage of your regular long time customers. Welcome to the beginning of the end of your restaurant. I called and spoke to whom, I assume, was the owner and he didn’t care one bit. “That’s nice” “everybody does it” was his response. Hmmm, No, not all restaurants rip people off. Most of them actually give you a little extra value when running a special menu. I’ve been a loyal customer for MANY years, I really expected better. I will not be back ever!...
Read moreBeing a Greek customer in our ethnic food filled world only means simply that when you sample traditional meals your expectations are always in the highest form. Had experienced the food there many years back when the restaurant was owned by another couple and with due respect was good/acceptable with room for improvement. Have to be honest as a person once having worked in the culinary industry the new Greek owner George Paliatsos has brought more than a bit of Athens to Langley. The environment is warm and inviting and service outstanding. Someone is always ready to top your glass of traditional Greek wine or deliver a cold beer to refill a new chilled glass. Having Langley customers and clientele can be challenging and demanding at the best of times and often pleasing everyone can be tricky as I have heard from other people in the industry. On this busy Saturday night evening with a wedding party of 65 people in a reserved level upstairs I thought we would never get seated or served here. It was so busy and lined up with customers. We were pleasantly surprised when we got seated within 10 minutes of arriving without any reservations. Simply wow!! The host was amazing and very inviting. She had even offered a glass of water while we awaited for our table to be ready. Our server was professional and well versed in their menu and samplers. Our food arrived shortly after we devoured our appies and no sooner than we did our main courses arrived to our shock seeing the place was at capacity. The food was nothing short of traditional and right off the grill sizzling hot. It even leaked out that it was my Birthday this eve and they went out of their way to make me feel so special with a complimentary pastry platter and candle after dinner. The deserts where fresh home made. Everyone loved what they tried. WoW again. Thank you to the new owners and staff who made this a memorable night for my family and myself. You will see us often I promise. If you have the chance to visit this restaurant you'll love it. Don't miss out on Langley's very own little island of Greece...
Read moreWent to galinis recently for my birthday. We were a party of 7. I had lasagna and coffee which was good. I took my 89 year old mother to the washroom which was in disrepair, no handle on the stall door and toilet paper dispenser was in pieces on the floor. My brother had the halibut which was nearly raw. When I received my bill I looked at the top and saw the proper order, but when the waitress handed me the Interac machine my total was nearly $40. I looked at the bottom and noticed a $9 charge was added. I asked the waitress what that was - she said whatever word it said and told me they “always do that with large groups, it speeds things up”. At no point did she say this was an 18% tip preadded. The fact that I had no knowledge of this before I said something annoyed me. This waitress would have allowed me to add a tip ( I usually add 20%) to the other charge of 18% . That made me mad . Quite a lucrative business I guess working there. Then I spoke with a manager (blonde) who tried to belittle me- going broken record on me repeating “ it’s an industry standard we’ve been doing since Covid started” . That was a clear attempt to rip me off and the manager seemed more intent on belittling me than addressing the fact that her waitress tried to rip me off. I spoke with another manager the next night at a different restaurant and asked about that charge. She told me the waitress is supposed to tell us about the charge beforehand , and remind us when we get the bill that the tip is already calculated ( not done) and also that the menu has to have it written on it .well it may have been on the menu , I don’t know but since I had to take my menu to another table where there was a light, I can’t say if it was there or not I did not have a good look at it. She also told me that it is done with large groups not a group of 7 .I will never be back. If anyone needs a good paying waitress job I’d say go to Galini’s in Langley cause the tips are at minimum 38% and management thinks that’s...
