Lee Gar Nei (BJS Korean Restaurant) — Restaurant in Surrey

The tables and chairs were clean AND the floor, too! We ordered simple fares, their combo: kimbap and ramen, and squid with rice. We also got the green onion pancake. The tea was hot, the banchams came in three: sweet, savory and spicy. And they gave us some kind of stir fried cabbage with slivers of beef.We got exactly what we expected. The bonus is (if you like K-pop), they played non stop. The lovely conversations from our neighbours is just like how it is shown in some KD. Except that no BTS, no Eric Nam, no The Rose song was ever played the whole time we were there, so I’m knocking off 1 star from the atmosphere. Our cravings were satisfied, and we left full and happy, as expected from Lee Gar Nei.

While food was good, the customer service could be better. The lady serving our table was not very friendly to begin with. We first asked for another spoon for the table, and she replied “what is wrong with this spoon?” And I pointed out to her that it was dirty. She took the spoon and left without any acknowledgement. Secondly, she was reluctant to give us a to go box when we asked for one, and wouldn’t give us a bigger container. She gave us the tinest one (the white plastic one for a bowl of rice) and told us that it would fit. Needless to say the box did not fit the food and we had to go back to ask for another box and was met with a cold stare. I recently visited Lee Gar Nei that left me feeling completely relaxed and happy. The ox white soup was a standout, with its rich, comforting broth that was perfectly seasoned and deeply satisfying. Pairing it with their Korean rice wine made for an authentic and delightful dining experience. The side dishes were fresh, varied, and full of flavor, showcasing the true essence of Korean cuisine. My kids absolutely loved the dumplings, which were perfectly cooked and filled with a delicious mix of ingredients.
