Hot Pot has come to Surrey! Noticed this opened while driving in the area. Decided to give it a try. We came in on a Saturday evening, and there was no one dining in. We were quickly greeted and sat where we wanted. They were very friendly and helped us with the menu. The recommended what was popular and their favourites. They are also owners of Pho Newton, which now makes sense of the name. The resto was clean and bright with the appropriate amount of decor. The room temp was also spot on. It was cold enough to not have you sweat while eating your boiling hot soup. The spice level will make you sweat a lil. On to the food, delicious! I ordered the House Special sate soup. Mild was still spicy for me but def worth it. There were tons of ingredients. You also get a choice to have rice or noodles on the side. There was plenty of ingredients. All the hot pots are around $25 which seems pricey but you get your moneys worth with the ingredients. Loved that the soup was hot and almost too hot. Perfect for a breezy evening and will even be better in the winter. This place very similar to Boiling Point. We also ordered deep fried squid, perfectly crunchy. We had iced coffee and strawberry bubble tea. They're nice additions to the boiling hot soup. We also had left overs, I'd say the bowl is good for two and add an appy and your set. We'll...
Read moreI am reviewing honestly so I hope the restaurant will take some of my feedback and improve on them, but first off, let's list the positives:
good generous portions comprehensive menu with variety friendly attentive staff clean washroom
Opportunities for improvement:
it's hotpot not warmpot so when it gets to the table, soup needs to be hot so that we can eat it immediately and not wait for the fire underneath to make it slowly hot.
related to the soup temperature as well, we were there for 40 minutes eating, by the end, the Napa cabbage that has been in the soup for the whole time, is still super crunchy, that's why the soup is not hot enough
before this restaurant, it was Mongolian grill, and before MG it was Izumi Sushi, same weak air conditioning, don't prop the main door open, especially since eating hotpot will usually be, well "hot" I suggest upgrading to stronger air cond.
your prawns are overcooked, the meat should not stick to the shell and not come off. If soup is hot, you can technically throw raw prawns into soup and they will cook in seconds.
chicken wings are a bit over fried as well, inside should be juicy and not dry.
I hope you consider my recommendations and see where can be improved, wishing you good luck in your...
Read moreSaw this place was open on their first day, April 19th, and came in to take pictures. They were very friendly and shared their menu via QR code (the prints are still yet to arrive). Their welcoming attitude made me sure to find time to come back today (21st).
I had the Chicken while the wife had Beef. The pots are individually served with a big portion of meat, veggies (choy sum, cabbage, enoki mushrooms), fish balls, tofu (fried and regular), and choice of noodles (vermicelli or egg noodles).
The broth is rich and flavorful. Even after finishing everything else and being plenty full, I found myself occasionally taking more spoonfuls of the broth to sip. Warning though that the 'mild' still has some kick.
We also had their bubble tea. They are still waiting for delivery of their machine to make their slushes so we went with their hand-made Peach tea, and a Matcha tea. Both were tasty and refreshing.
Mira (owner?), is very kind and cheerful. Very happy to have this place in the neighborhood and look forward to...
