Used to like this place but the quality has dropped significantly and the prices have gone up. Spent $150 for 4 and had high hopes, had paid for the premium beef in the taco platter and they charge a $5 meat premium for a dish of stewed potatoes with stir fried shaved cheap-as-possible sirloin tip that was fatty and poorly cooked/trimmed instead of skirt steak that they would use in authentic Mexican/Spanish cooking. Paid $11 for what tasted like watered down grocery store guac, also paid $4 to add cheese to our burritos and tortas but neither had any cheese... We also ordered ceviche, DO NOT ORDER THE CEVICHE. it was soggy leftover salsa, with pieces of indescribable seafood chunks without enough acid to be foodsafe, it also came with 3 crackers for container that had 2-3 cups of watery mystery seafood salsa, this is as accurate of a description as I could come up with and I am apparently "being too nice" per my parents, and my dad who's birthday dinner this was for. We tossed it to avoid getting sick, and it shouldn't be ok the menu if it isn't going to be made freshly in a food safe manner. Overall it was very disappointing, used to have potential but it has gone down so much that I can not in good conscious recommend this restaurant to anyone. The burrito was decent, but it was ruined by paying for extras they didn't include, and going to a Mexican restaurant and not getting a decent guac/salsa/ceviche is pretty sad.

While nothing would ever come close to an authentic Mexican Taco/Mexican Cuisine, Sal y Limon comes damn close. Located in Grandview corners kitty corner to the Home Depot, Sal y Limon (SyL) offers a vibrant, modern feel for a reasonable price. The food was delicious (I had 4 tacos and my mother had a burrito) although the wait was a little long but that's with any restaurant you go to. They also offer the Coca Cola that fomes straight from Mexico in the Glass bottle....yes, you read that correctly! With any good comes some bad and unfortunately SyL has a couple. You have to know exactly what you want before you sit down. That can be easy for some that come here often, but if it's your first time it can be disheartening. Personally i like to sit and look at the menu before ordering at my table that I'm seated at. Also, when you're paying you have to top upfront. I'm all for tipping and give to the service that is given to me during my experience. To have me "prepay" for a service I dunno is good or bad doesn't put me in the right mood. These are the reasons I had to lower my rating. All in all it was a good experience. Reasonably priced if you're looking for someplace in the area to sit and relax. Also, to the person that said there was no menu at the front of the restaurant, clearly you were so buried in your phone that you didn't look up for 3 seconds and see the giant menu at the front entrance....🤔😊

Ordered the pork belly burrito (chimichanga'ed smothered in Mexican hot sauce), the pork belly tacos and fish tacos, and of course some Mexican sodas (mandarin & cola) to top off the meal. The burrito was huge! Enjoyable to eat but as it was stuffed with a lot of rice I couldn't taste most of the cheese I ordered as an add on for $4.25 (add on cheese and guacamole). The pork belly tacos came out sizzling hot with oil still warm, it was tasty and flavourful accompanied by the many hot sauces I added together. The fish tacos, my go to at any taco joints, were the most disappointing because the fish batter was soggy, cold and it tasted pre-fried moments before. It was my first experience at Sal y Limon, I believe I just came in on an off-day where the fish tacos wasn't the best choice. Will try their other locations again for a second review. The staff was very personable and nice, washrooms were the cleanest I've ever seen any restaurant have, and the place was uplifted with Mexican music and decorations. A pleasant experience, but it could have been better had the fish tacos been fresh and crispy upon ordering.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

THE ONLY REASON I GIVE THEM 1 STAR IS BECAUSE IT IS NECESSARY... OTHERWISE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN 0!!!!!

my experience here was absolutely horrible, I had placed an order for pick up and when i got home i realized that one of my items was missing from the bag and was not even on my bill, I called them back to re order and get the missing item; when i called the man on the phone was extremely rude, he argued that he made the item specifically himself and knows that it was in the bag, i got quite angry and told him that i did not get it, he then changed what he was saying to "I was not charged for this and i did not order it.." i told him that is exactly what i said and he continued to argue now about what i was saying... first of all he lied and told me he made and put it in the bag himself then changed his story to that it was not even ordered (which it was but missed by person on the phone when i ordered) i then went down to the store to pick up and purchase the missing item, to my surprise he was not welcoming there either, he proceeded to tell me that i did not order that and argue some more (over what? beats me i never asked for any discount or anything free i just wanted to order and get what i wanted in the first place i did not want or ask for any compensation, so why was he so abrasive?)

I then decided a couple weeks later to give them another try because i have a friend who said that he has never had a bad experience there. I called and i ordered a burrito but in a bowl instead of a wrap, the person on the phone was extremely rude when i requested this (even though i have done this many times for my girlfriend due to gluten intolerance at similar restaurants) they finally agreed to comply with my request. When i got home and opened my order... The burrito/bowl was made as if in anger with my request... the cheese was on the very bottom of the box so just stuck and melted to the bottom instead of the top to be mixed with the bowl.... there were almost no toppings (definitely less then what they put in the burrito) I ordered the same thing but in the burrito for myself and it was much larger. I did not even call to complain this time I just decided that i would warn anybody who is willing to read this and never go back there again. This place should close, obviously they know nothing about food prep or customer service, nor do they care to learn it. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE THEY WILL NOT TREAT YOU AS IF THEY APPRECIATE IT BUT AS IF YOU ARE INCONVENIENCING THEM!

YOU HAVE...

We went in on 12/12/17 at 8pm. First of all, in the lineup while ordering we had a couple of questions because we have never been to a sal y lemon before and just heard great things about it. The girl helping us was super rude and gave us attitude in response to each question. We both added guac to our burritos and didn’t mind paying $2 for it. That was until we got our burritos and it appeared to have NO guac on them. There was maybe some green sauce that looked identical to the “avocado sauce” they have for free on their sauce cart. We also ordered a chicken taco each, which came out first. Except my boyfriend got his chicken taco and I got a veggie taco. The boy delivering it said that it was a veggie taco that was on the order slip and I said “Well if you’re going to throw it out I’ll eat it!” So he said “you want it?” And I said “sure!”... my chicken taco never came and so when I asked if it was coming he told me I would have to pay for it. So we ask for the manager and who comes over but the same girl giving us attitude at the register! Apparently the manager! She then proceeds to tell me that I ordered a veggie taco when I DIDNT. We get the chicken taco finally (which my boyfriend had stated that his was delicious) and I took one bite and almost spit it out because it was so salty! So I gave it to my boyfriend to finish. And he was like “oh my gosh that didn’t taste like my taco”... so I have no idea if they did something to it on purpose because we complained or what.. the only reason I’m giving this place more than one star is because the carne Asada burrito was actually pretty good.. aside from missing the $2 “guac” and all.. mostly just terrible management. And was a disappointment that it wasn’t a sit in restaurant and...
