It's now November 29/24 and after having returned to Brown's b/c I really do love the menu, I am once again disappointed. 😢 My husband and I arrived on Saturday evening with Yelp reservations only to find that we were not to be seated b/c all online reservations were being turned away to accommodate a large Christmas party‼️ Not only that, but the way in which we were declined seating was pathetically managed. Why were we not at least given the courtesy of a phone call in advance? Where is that professionalism that typically guides service-oriented businesses?
I am writing this on July 12th/22 after giving myself sufficient time to reflect on what I want to say. Sadly, 🥲June 11, 2022 marked our final dining experience at Brown's in Grandview Corners. Prior to that date, Brown's had been our restaurant of choice and we went there every 2 weeks. June 11 we arrived 6:30-ish, asked for a table inside, were told none were available (and they take no reservations), yet it was immediately apparent a table for four was set and ready for seating near the entrance. When we inquired about the table we were told it was "spoken for." (Hmmmm ... what does that mean❓ I thought their policy was 'no reservations❓') We were offered a table in the covered & heated patio which we accepted and once seated, that was the end of service. We had to ask to have a server come and take our order, delivery of our meal was slow, we had to ask for coffee and then ask again for our bill. 💔 We reduced our normal 20% tip to 15% (even that was far too much!) and decided never to return. 💔💔From my perspective, this service was pathetic. 💔💔💔 Our regular servers, whom we had come to know, were nowhere in sight that night. 💔 We can only assume all servers were new or they were short-staffed, yet no one offered any explanation for this clear lack of service. Very, very disappointing. 💔💔💔 Wondering if it might be a one-off, I discussed it with friends at the gym 💪. The first thing one of my friends said to the group was, OMG, don't let them put you on the patio❗️Once you're on that patio, you're forgotten❗️I love ❤️ the menu, but will not pay for no service much less tip 20% ❗️ We have increased our dining out at Earl's, across the street, Kiki's Greek Restaurant on 152nd, and Kami Sushi in Grandview Corners. These three take reservations, we've been going to each for years, and can attest to excellent customer service at each. And if I want to explore there are a ton of restaurants around - all of whom need clientele, especially as interest rates rise and disposable income lowers❗️
Dec/21 - remains a restaurant of choice❣️
Oct/21 My husband and I had dinner at Brown's for the first time tonight, October 2/21. It will be a favourite from now on. Great menu, excellent food, excellent server...
Read moreWhat a horrible service experience I had with this location yet again. Table we promised were gone to other customers twice and when I asked them where about our table is, they simply said the table is getting ready without absolute no apologies or acknowledgement of forgetten about us. Yet another 10 mins pass, others got sit down, and we still didn't have the table. When I asked the a guy who looked like assistance manager, he told us that he is going to clean the table behind the bar, grabbed cloth and spray and started to wiping the table. But after 5 seconds, got distracted, left the cloth and cleaning spray on the chair, and went off to somewhere eles. Once we got the table finally, delivered the food and drinks ourselves from the bar because NO ONE was serving us or heling us to move. Couple of different people came and asked how the food is. When we asked for the bill, the hostess said she will grab our server. We didn't even know we had a server! After 15 mins of wait, we had to walk to the front, asked for the bill.
Lastly, hello hair on my bowl! Disgusting place..
What a disappointment, this...
Read moreDisappointed.........I was looking forward to Browns coming to my area, but so far it has been disappointing. I've been there several times, hoping it would improve with time, but still waiting! The service is slow, from beginning to end. The food could use some improving, from the appetizers to the entrees. My daughter and I ordered the liberty pizzas, supposedly with "hand torn basil". It looked like there were one or two bits of "hand torn basil" on the whole pizzas! We waited for our food while watching several people who arrived after us receiving their food. Finally our server apologized, saying that there was only one oven for the pizzas!!! Another time, a friend ordered the smashed avocado toast.......it was one very small piece of toast......plain.....not even a piece of lemon or tomato or something to make it even look appetizing!! There it was, smack in the middle of a large plate! Even the fries have not been good......either burnt bits or soggy! Not at all up to par with other Browns locations. I guess I'll be driving to the location at Semiahmoo Centre rather than walking to Grandview...
