A table for three for my 80 year old mother's birthday ended up being a disaster.
First off, the decor of the restaurant is very nice, there is a large bar with a couple of large tv's, open concept tables and booths and a menu with a large variety of options. They were kind enough to leave a personalized birthday card and balloon on the table for my mother. Thank you
When our server arrived, we order a shared appetizer and 3 entrees. After a long wait, the manager eventually came over and asked if wanted our entrees and appetizer at the same time. We said no. Two minutes later our appetizer arrived which was a miniscule amount of dip and enough bread to feed a football team. After a couple of scapes of the dip, the dip was gone, but we still had enough bread leftover to feed a basketball team as well.
One bite into the dip, the entrees arrived. Obviously the managers request was ignored, or the cook sent it out anyway. We sent the entrees back and said that we are not in a rush and are trying to have a nice relaxing birthday dinner. Two more bites later, the manager shows up with the same food again! I sent it back again! She seemed surprised??? Didn't we just have this conversation 4 bites ago?
We finished the dip and then waited another 20 minutes for our entrees. I think the cook was pissed that we sent our entrees back and was now trying to teach us a lesson.
When we got the food. The entree I had ordered contained big chunks of mushroom, but mushrooms aren't listed as an ingredient on the menu. When I pointed this out to the waitress, she was surprised and said that they always serve it with mushrooms.
My mother is 80 and a slow eater, but the waitress was obviously in a rush and cleared our plates away and started asking us about desserts, while my mother was still eating her dinner.
Without me requesting them to; they were kind enough to comp my terrible mushroom pasta and the 4 scrapes of dip and bread. That's very nice, but that doesn't excuse the terrible experience.
I think that the staff are very poorly trained, their communication and service skills are very poor. Earls training and hiring standards have obviously gone very down hill. They are definatley not in the caliber of Joey's or...
Read moreDO NOT COME HERE. We have been to many restaurants across many countries but disappointed that the one nearby is such pathetic. No idea how they are still getting the high ratings.
Been to other Earl's locations many times but this one was so loud. People had to speak out loudly due to the music. I understand that you want to create a vibe but then you better provide good service too. I am sorry for the servers as they have to endure this loud noise for hours together. They couldn't even hear the orders properly and had to bend down constantly to listen to the order.
Booked a table for four in advance for 7.15pm on Saturday for my wife's birthday. We went there on time and still had to wait for 10 to 15 mins when we can clearly see empty tables. The lighting over the table we got was flickering all the time.
Orders were messed, not one but for two of the dishes. There shouldn't have been any confusion after clearly ordering the chicken tacos. But we were given fried chicken with an apology that they will bring the tacos soon (came after 20mins). We also ordered one vegan and one chicken Huang Pao dishes. They got one (chicken) and didn't bring the other one as they messed up with the order again as two chicken dishes.
The orders after the appetizers came one by one so a few on our table had to wait for until they got theirs while others had to eat so that their dish doesn't get cold. No flavour in the Fettuccini Alfredo we ordered.
The menu was different from what was shown online. There were not many veggie appetizers. We ordered chicken wings and had to ask twice for additional napkins and we got two napkins to be precise for a table of 4.
Overall an annoying experience that a nice evening to celebrate the event ended up being so chaotic with noisy environment and messed up orders. Never again to this Earls. After paying so much with increased prices (possibly just for the hype) you would expect them to provide good food and service. The one star rating is because of the effort the server has put in for trying to make our time better.
Now that I wrote this review, I have been checking other low scoring reviews and see similar consistent, pathetic service and food....
Read moreWe have been coming to earls for a long time, and been to this location a few times. Our last experience this past saturday, would have to be one of the worst experiences. Firstly fried cauliflower in Calamari is unnecessary. Secondly, you could tell with the color and texture of the Calamari the oil in the fryer needed to be changed. There was more cauliflower than Calamari. The Server did put in another order, but similar story, wilted cauliflower with the Calamari.
The mains were burger, chicken and two dishes of pasta. The fettucine alfredo, was flavourless, although the chicken was good. The other Pasta was the Tortellini with prawns. I am not even going to get into the price point for the Tortellini dish but the protein to Pasta ratio was way off. To be specific for a full serving of their pasta there were 5 prawns. There was no flavour, definitely no taste of truffle. Forget truffle, there was no salt. My recommendation DO NOT ORDER. The cost was like 27 dollars out of which 6.50 was for 5 pieces of prawn lol you can get a better dish for that cost at another restaurant.
Furthermore, we actually ordered another dish ribs and warm potato salad because we could not finish the Tortellini as it was tasteless.
We could have sent the food back but being cognitive that it would be thrown out, we made a decision to take it home and re cook it with salt and pepper
It is disappointing that Earls wants to charge high prices, but their service and food quality has gone way down. I am not even going to compare it pre pandemic, its worse than when I went last time last year.
Furthermore, please teach your front staff how to do math. Do not come to me and tell me that my bill which was $371, after $100 dollar gift card is now $280. Further their explanation as to how they "discounted" one calamari dish and applied the gift card did not make sense. Its quite simple my bill was $371 (which I would have received even after you removed one dish of calamari) less my gift card my bill...
