My partner and I are here almost once a week and we have family who frequent here as well and is generally a very enjoyable time until tonight and our experience with our waitress. She took our drink and food order and after setting down the beers suddenly asked for my ID. I have been waited on several times by this same waitress and never asked for an ID before and I didn't have one on me since out of the 100s of times I've never been asked. I'm very obviously in my 40s, wrinkles, grey hair and all. I haven't been IDed in over five years because I'm assuming it's just that obvious I'm not under 25. She then took away our beers and didn't bring the water I requested with order drink order while my partner went to get my ID. When he returned we decided to get the order to go instead and I again asked for the water. The waitress said she was not allowed to serve water on take out orders. I suggested since she hadn't rung it in yet to charge me for a coke. She said that she was not allowed to serve any beverages with take out orders. I've never heard such a thing. Who refuses to serve a person water? We'll continue to come back but we hope we are not put in her area ever again. The ID part was weird enough but refusing to serve water (I'm a cancer patient btw) was beyond. I'm not even sure it's ok to ask for ID as your setting down beers. Seems a bit late to want to start doing your job...
Read moreMy husband and I have a date night at OJs Terwillegar once a week for the approximately 10 years. The staff, service, food and ambiance have always been wonderful and we have always felt welcomed by the amazing staff therefore we continued weekly. Unfortunately since February 2025 we have noticed a deterioration in service and the feeling of welcomeness that we have enjoyed for the last many years by long time staff. We so enjoyed the smiles and welcoming kindness by the staff that felt like our daughters and sons after the many years of coming to OJs to enjoy an evening out. Since February we have experienced the sadness of the long term staff who had also told us over the years how much they enjoyed working at OJs Terwillegar and quickly the disappearance of the long time dedicated servers who have left to seek employment at other restaurants in happier environments became noticeable. Since the new manager arrived in January and especially over the last 2 months the service has also deteriorated, errors in our orders no follow up to see if we required water, or addition food or cocktails since all the pervious long time staff have left OJs Terwillegar. In passing we overheard that OJS Terwillegar under new manager was a toxic place to work. Thank you for listening and look forward...
Read moreI came to this location twice out of convenience in the past 2 weeks. The first visit was in between meetings so we set aside around 1.5 hours for lunch. We sat ourselves on the patio and noticed it was busy with one server. It took at least 15-20 minutes for the server to take a DRINK order.. We ordered both food and drinks. Another 45 minutes had past and we were seeing food start to come out for the people that got there long before we did. We had to leave knowing that the food would take even longer and we didn't have time for it. The server was very kind and comped our drinks because we couldn't wait.
SO! I decided to come back with my girlfriend for the dill dip and fries which is why this has two stars lol. It was also busy this time but not as slow which I didn't mind. When receiving our order the waitress dropped a full tray of drinks at my feet (wearing expensive white net sneakers ). I totally understand mistakes but the manager quickly checked on me and continued on. Nothing was comped or offered to give us anything free as it was really disruptive to our meal.
This left me disappointed . I will come back for the dill fries but this left a really sour taste in my mouth.
Update : down to 1 star - no comment from owner and I never went back for...
