This place surpassed my expectations. I was in the area for an event. I needed a quick bite at lunchtime with my kid. We both were craving Chinese. The reviews were very positive when we arrived. The parking lot was pretty dead for Sunday when we got in it was kind of magical, actually very cute and cosy and very well kept. It clearly family run and then so with lots of love. The food is pretty authentic and unique -definitely not one of the mill fast food or chain restaurant. We had the fried rice with shrimp with plenty of green peas and corn. The size was moderate. We also had the homemade fish balls with konjak. The fish ball soup was amazing and really hit the spot for a cold day we needed something warm and nourishing… It also has pieces of spinach and seaweed. I’m usually very sensitive to MSG, and there’s definitely no MSG in their food. I was a bit disappointed with the broccoli and crispy beef – the beef was a bit over fried. But otherwise very happy with the soup and the rice.
Another note, the bathroom is probably one of the best bathrooms I’ve seen. Clearly well fought out in terms of the accessories. (it even had some mouthwash available) it had this sent inside the washroom that made it feel like it was a spa… I love this little spot...
Read moreI recently visited master cooking house and was blown away by the taste of the food. Every dish was a feast for the senses, and I left feeling completely satisfied.
Firstly, the appetizers were fantastic. The deep fried squid was crispy on the outside and perfectly tender on the inside. The dipping sauce was a great complement, adding a tangy and slightly spicy kick.
For my main course, I ordered the beaf noodle and the deep fried wuhan lotus roots flip and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were perfectly balanced, with each ingredient complementing the other. The beaf soup was juicy and cooked to perfection, and the seasoning was spot-on. The sides that came with the dish were also exceptional. The was creamy and rich, while the fried Chinese cabbage was light and refreshing.
To finish off the meal, I ordered the sichuan ice jelly and it was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. The dessert was rich and indulgent, with just the right amount of sweetness.
Overall, the taste of the food at master cooking house was excellent. Each dish was perfectly spiced , cooked to perfection, and bursting with flavor. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a...
Read moreStep inside Master Cooking House, and the bustle of Etobicoke melts away, replaced by the comforting aromas of simmering broths, rich soy, and fragrant spices. Minimalist and modern, the space keeps the focus exactly where it belongs: on handcrafted Taiwanese soul food, made from scratch and steeped in tradition.
At the heart of it all is the Braised Beef Noodle Soup: a deeply flavourful broth layered with tender brisket, gelatinous tendon, and hearty shank. Each spoonful told a story of slow braising, patience, and purpose.
Their Chef’s Signature Noodle with Beef Sauce offered a different kind of comfort: a dry noodle dish slicked with savory, spiced beef sauce, subtly sweet and brimming with umami. It’s simple, soulful, and dangerously craveable.
Popcorn Chicken arrived golden and crackly, dusted with Taiwanese 5-spice and served with fried basil leaves; crunchy on the outside, juicy within. The Original Beef Shank Tendon, served cold, was a masterclass in texture: soft, springy, and luxuriously rich.
