Felt like a total idiot coming here. I had no idea how to get in! It's shared with a coworking space? So the doors are locked and there's a checkin tablet at the front for membership. None of the options were "just want to grab a coffee". Both doors were locked when I tried them. Lots of people were inside working and drinking coffee, and this was around 2pm so it definitely wasn't closing/opening.
The café workers just stared at me trying to get in like I was crazy and unwelcome. If you see someone confused and struggling with this stupid entrance, the kind thing is to help them.
Super embarrassing and I ended up walking away as the one guy just stared at me. Too bad cuz I really wanted to try this café.
I can't be the only person this has happened too, right? I feel like maybe the way in is super obvious and I missed it. But an employee assisting me with what I'm doing wrong would have made all the difference.
Edit after owner response:
Did you even read what I wrote? I tried BOTH doors in the glass vestibule. One on the left of the screen, and one on the right. Both led into the exact same space (sofas, tables and chairs, coffee). When both were locked, only then did I look around for any other entrance (no there isn't another) and then downat the screen. I literally stood in the vestibule you mention and watched your baristas make coffee 20 ft away from me. They stared at ME like I was a pest as i tried the LOCKED door. I was not in some other section of the building. Your café is the coffee bar with the birdo mural, right? Yeah. I may be confused but I'm not that stupid. I know what a cafe looks like. I love third wave coffee and have been to lots of cafes just like this one. $30000 espresso machines and bags of fair trade coffee beans on shelves are pretty obvious. The numerous millennials sitting around on macbooks with lattes was a dead giveaway I was looking into the correct spot. The birdo mural is on your insta.
Come on. I wasn't trying to get into any apartments. The screen was not about apartments (i live in one. I think i can tell). It was about MEMBERSHIP to coworking space. I really don't think you actually read the specifics of my review.
Your Google entry here even says you're in the Waverley apartment lobby. Like? Either you are or you're not. You can't be both in the Waverley apartments and not in the Waverley apartments.
What a rude response for genuine confusion and poor treatment by your staff. Maybe someone accidentally locked the café door, or it was stuck (it was a cold icy day in spring afterall)??? Idk. But calling me stupid when your staff could have easily directed me to the correct entrance (if that in fact wasnt it) or fixed the stuck door is appalling. If the door was indeed stuck, I hope you understand that not everyone is a buff muscle hipster. Some people have disabilities and can't yank/push a super heavy stuck door open. (If that is even the case).
By your response, I actually was at the correct door and it just DIDN'T OPEN which is what prompted my total confusion in the first place!
Your staff, who were not doing much except chatting to each other, did nothing to help which was my main complaint you did nothing to address. A simple, "sorry you experienced poor service from us, we'll do better next time" could have sufficed. But instead you pass the blame to me, claiming I was at some other entrance and didn't literally see your baristas and cafe through the glass. Even if it was the wrong entrance, they're 20ft away. One could have come out and said, "hey can I help you?" Everything could have been cleared up immediately. (And if the door was locked/stuck that would have also been noticed at that point.) All of this could have been solved so easily if your staff had just been proactive or kind.
If this is the type of ranting response you give to honestly disappointed and confused (wannabe) customers, no wonder your staff are so poorly trained in customer service.
Man. It's times like this I miss the Waverley Hotel and Silver Dollar Room. At least they...
Read moreI came here with two friends in the afternoon. While having food and drinks with friends sitting by the bar table, the first thing I'm going to mention is there were fruit flies flying around the food. The more annoying thing is the staffs were talking about how other customers complaining about the taste of the drinks and ask them to make another one and they think those customers are intentionally asking for one more drink for free instead of not liking the taste because they took both of the drinks. I was very disappointed about this because I don't think it's respectful and professional to talk about those things while customers are around (literally sitting in front of them). I was not happy about the taste of the food they made either and I wasn't sure if I should tell them that I want to discard it until hearing they making comments about previous issues. Then I told them it's not appropriate to do so and immediately returned the plate. No one even said sorry or anything, they were just quiet and they act like when they complain about customers, it was not loud enough to be heard by everyone and nothing is not a big deal. I really don't think it was respectful for them to judge previous customers loudly in front of other customers. People have the right to not liking the food while still eat it to avoid wasting food. I believe that they should learn to have some basic respect for people. Additionally, since I'm not the only customer who had awful experience like this and both service and food was disappointing, it was even more ironic that I left an 18% tip before all these things happening. I hope people can see my review before deciding whether they want to...
Read morei went here last week and everything was fine, food was mediocre and didn’t match the price at all, esp for a cafe that caters to uni students … but regardless the atmosphere was good so i went back again, this time bringing a different friend
the moment i sit down some girl is rushing towards me and my friend to tell me that if we can’t buy anything we have to leave and that my tim hortons drink wasn’t allowed there bc it looks bad i respect the business policies but it just goes to show the capitalist mindset at this place- which i don’t support the girls tone was extremely rude to us and honestly it felt very racially motivated considering i supported them last week and spent 35$ there i don’t plan on going back because of this experience i had here and the ridiculous money hungry policies me having a time hortons drink will not influence others to stop buying from your cafe… and me having a tim hortons drink won’t stop me from buying more food either from this cafe … she also said this isn’t a library it’s a cafe as if everyone there isn’t a UNI STUDENT STUDYING. girl be so fr. she said we were taking up seats AND THERE WERE 10 SEATS OPEN.
this place is so disgusting and i will not be returning and i will be spreading the word on social media to ensure others don’t as well because this is honestly so...
