We were driving through downtown after an appointment and the restaurant name caught my eye, followed by the large "halal" sign. We decided to check it out for a late lunch.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the employee's knowledge of everything that goes into making sure a meal is halal as that is not usually the case at most restaurants. She walked us through all the menu options and told us which ones would be good options for us and are halal. Great, patient service.
Just a heads up, the tteokbokki itself isn't halal because of the chicken/beef broth that they use to make it and the sausage it comes with, but anything with chicken or beef is halal. We decided to order a bimbimbap rice bowl, kimchi yubu, bulgogi kimbap, and fries for our child. The food was delicious and we enjoyed the overall experience. The pricing is slightly on the higher side for the amount of food, especially if you can't order one of their combo options. We have had Korean food before around the GTA and would definitely place this restaurant within our top 3 Korean food options.
Overall, great place! I'd definitely stop by again when I'm in...

5/5 on packaging and taking extra care to ensure the sauce will not leak during transport.
Bulgogi Kimbab - 3/5 at first glance, looks presentable and plentiful. However, the roll breaks apart very easily, the only seasoning seems to be on the meat, which tasted okay but salty. The roll could use a little bit more sesame oil to elevate the taste, and less salt on the meat.
Tteokbokki (Original) - 3/5 at first glance looks and smell nice. The first taste of the sauce I was hit with very salty instant ramen seasoning flavour, not what I was expecting. The rice roll, fish strips and cheese was probably cook, which was nice.
Overall, the food was okay, but I had to stop eating due to the overwhelming built up of the salty taste with each bite. Probably better if I went with the rice option, instead of Kimbab.
Not sure if I was unlucky and got the sauce when it's near the...
Read moreOrdered for pick up. Got there at 1 PM and the lady said they’re still making it. That’s fine with us. We sit down and wait. 1:10, 1:20. Then it’s 1:30. Then 1:40.
During this time, we saw around 3 UberEats pick ups. About three people who came to order AFTER us either got their order and left or got their order, ate, and then finished and we were STILL waiting.
By 1:50 we go talk to them again and he just takes the finished bag that’s been sitting there for who knows how long. Not his fault but the lady from before clearly forgot that we spoke to her before??? Because she was the one I noticed was in charge of bagging up the food.
An incident like this of SUPER LONG wait times isn’t isolated to this location. Their other location, our pick up was also long, taking well over 40 minutes past the expected pick up time.
Food is good but not worth the hassle. Clearly issues with their processes, lack of staff, or...
