I was excited to try this place after living in Korea for many years. The Bingsu was ok (not great), but there were some major issues that really affected the quality of the service and the atmosphere.
Ordering to share: There is a ‘policy’ regarding customers buying a Bingsu cup to share. You aren’t allowed to share, and need to pay a $7-8 more for a large bowl, which is too big for 2 people, meaning it either gets wasted or needs to be taken out. Or, they suggest buying some drinks as well as a cup to allow you to sit down.
Why alienate and annoy customers for the sake of a few extra dollars? And then make them order something too big, that will create more waste and more garbage.
A simple solution would be tables of 2, 4, and 6 with a 1 hour time limit, and a minimum of 1 cup per 2 people.
Communication: Some of the Korean staff seemed a little rude, unhelpful and annoyed, especially when customers were asking questions or making requests. They also didn’t seem to understand some of the customers which created some uncomfortable situations and meant customers left without what they needed.
Speed/quality of service: There is an automated iPad style system for ordering at the table, but the two times I have visited, no one takes the time to seat you, explain the process, bring water/cups and spoons and give an approximate wait time or explain the rules on ordering.
If they did this, it would massively reduce the long lines at the counter, and improve waiting times. I was waiting 30 minutes the first time, and 35 minutes the second time.
I also asked for a box to take the massive, overpriced Bingsu home with me, but was instead given a freezer bag. It was only after explaining again that I was given a tub. Again, have this set up and prepared for customers to save time and effort.
Bribing customers for reviews: This doesn’t only create a false impression of the business, but also creates fake reviews and is in violation of Google and Yelp’s terms of service. Getting customers to leave dishonest 5-star reviews in exchange for a free drink will actually hurt the business in the long run and will create more negative reviews as customers see that the reviews don’t match up to reality.
I hope management is able to address these concerns seriously and take action quickly to...
Read moreI love this place! I always order from here for my Korean food fix. This is my favorite Korean restaurant because of how they treat their customers. I haven’t been able to visit the establishment but I’ve ordered takeout countless times. They always follow my order notes! The kimbap and deokkbeoki is always fresh. You can tell from the veggies used in each dish. Bingsu (especially watermelon) is very delicious, it’s a properly done bingsu that doesn’t give you empty hopes when you reach the bottom. It’s layered! The shaved ice is also not just ice or milk, it tastes like cereal milk. The kimbap rice is fresh as well, and the filling is very generous. Rice cakes are very soft as well without being over cooked. I love the bitcoin ppang as well(especially the sweet potato flavor)it used to be waffle-like, now it’s more like croissant dough. Both are very good! And the sweet potato latte?!! Omg amazing!!! I had a bad experience from a different Korean cafe with sweet potato drinks, where I’m pretty sure they served me hot milk. As it had no flavor or chunks. Hanbingo does sweet potato latte so so right! I’m shocked at the flavor, and it has the consistency of a drink made with real sweet potato. They give you chopsticks that are pre-separated, so no worries or wood splinters. Not to mention the customer service. One time, I was missing an item in my delivery order. I called and immediately had the problem resolved, they were able to provide me with not just a solution. But an above and beyond solution. I would much rather spend my money at an establishment that values me as a customer. And I absolutely love this place. If they eventually start selling other types of Korean food, like fried chicken. I will be exclusively ordering Korean food...
Read moreWent here for the Aespa cupsleeve event and did not have a pleasant experience. My partner and I waited over 20 minutes for our drinks and more than an hour for the Bitcoin cheese coin. There was a rush of people to come in after us, so we didn't expect our food and drinks to come out ASAP, though we weren't expecting to wait that long. We followed up on the cheese coin twice within the hour we waited and the first time we were told that it would be ready in 2-3 minutes. After waiting 15-20 minutes, we followed up once again and were told it would be out soon. We received it after 10 minutes and were given tea and two extra coins for what we thought was compensation for our time. The coins were soggy, signifying that they had likely been sitting for a while, but at this point we were not in the mood to argue. Shortly after, one of the workers came up to us and stated that we only ordered one coin. Before we could say anything, he went in between us and grabbed the bag, leaving me and my partner in disbelief. Not only were we shocked, but also disgusted as my partner had already opened the bag and likely touched the other coins. Overall, we did not have a great experience here due to the lack of customer service and disregard for our time. We understand that they were likely overwhelmed, but this was just...
