Scarborough Ontario Anjapper Chettinad Restaurant left a disappointing impression during our visit. The individual taking orders seemed disengaged and not adequately attentive, reflecting poorly on the restaurant's commitment to customer service. The frustration escalated when, despite arriving at 9:30 PM, we were informed that the kitchen was closed. This contradicted the information on their website, which stated a closing time of 10 PM. This inconsistency raises concerns about the accuracy of their operational details and the reliability of their service.

Moreover, the limitation on ordering only at a specific time is inconvenient for patrons, especially those expecting flexibility during their dining experience. The unavailability of biryani, a staple in Chettinad cuisine, added to the disappointment, questioning the restaurant's ability to maintain essential menu items throughout their operating hours.

Drawing comparisons with Seattle Anjapper restaurant, the Scarborough branch falls short in both food quality and service. The dissatisfaction was exacerbated by the long journey from British Columbia, making the experience even more disheartening. It is crucial for the management to learn from successful counterparts and implement changes to enhance their offerings and overall customer experience.

The issue of misinformation regarding closing times requires urgent attention. If the kitchen is closing earlier than the advertised time, updating the website and ensuring consistency in communication is imperative. The discrepancy between the closing time and the availability of the service team until 10 PM adds confusion to the customer experience, highlighting a lack of coordination among staff members.

Unfortunately, the lack of pictures due to a switched-off phone prevents us from visually documenting the disappointing experience. However, it's essential to note that the Gobi 65 masala not adhering well to the cauliflower further emphasizes the subpar quality of the dishes served. Consistency in food preparation is fundamental to a positive dining experience, and this aspect was evidently lacking during our visit.

In conclusion, Scarborough Ontario Anjapper Chettinad Restaurant's operational inconsistencies, limited ordering times, unavailability of key menu items, and subpar food quality make it a regrettable choice for dining. The management should address these issues promptly, learn from successful counterparts, and prioritize customer satisfaction to salvage the restaurant's reputation in the competitive...

What I wanted to single out that this South Indian restaurant has going for them is 'presentation'. The food presentation is commendable. From the basic garnish on the Chicken Lolly Pop to the Thali's look and demonstration with all its assorted little dips and side dishes, I find it all very exciting to just jump right in to the eating part.

A good find I had here was discovering new post-meal items to look out for when going to Indian restaurants. I really enjoyed my order of Pineapple Kesari, and will be sure to search for that item in the menu next time I am out in an Indian place.

A couple of quick things, good and bad, I also want to mention about the overall dining experience I had here are the following: Good that they have a very accessible wash area by the dining space. I would want more Indian restaurants or restaurants in general to have them convenientely available outside instead of having to go all the way inside washrooms.

The bad thing is that I did not appreciate how the servers gave me the impression that they are in such a rush to have us finish up our meal and our stay there so they could already clean up the place. They also handed out the bill to us instead of waiting for us to ask for it which I find very rude. I understand that we may have started placing our meal orders late (8:15) then around 9:45-ish already when they came in and gave the bill, but servers should only very situationally be the one to decide on when it is pay-up time already. Even during that late into the night I see some other customers who just came in and have just been served their orders. These unpleasant experience pulled the overall rating down for me.

Anyways, to move back on to the food... as someone who can't say is a very good source of opinion about Indian food & all the regional cuisines it has to offer, I must say that dining here gave me a much better sense of what South Indian food may be like. Indian food is so much more than your mainstream Buttern Chicken & Chicken...

Worst customer service, our family is having the dinner and the employee started dusting the front door mat right there when we are still having food , such a big chain of restaurant with such name and brand ,but I think there is not much attention being paid during closing hours and treated like just eat and get out . We understand restaurant and employees are also humans, but when customers are still having food..an employee is dusting floor mat ??? totally ridiculous and very bad . How come hygiene etc. is not being considered or even thought of..??

And even after being asked ..how come the employee is dusting mat right there and tons of dust is fuming up , the employee’s response is “we are dusting this side “ ..does this even make sense ? Is air partitioned separately to each one of us ?? That too in a food restaurant ( just shocked with that silly response).

We also ordered coffee and still having our dinner, the waiter is just suggesting us.. they will get the coffee right now because the restaurant may close , when there is 30 minutes ..is this a forced service ?? We were at the restaurant at 8:45pm and it closes at 10pm, still such a behavior? Are we expected to drink the coffee right that time, when you want us to eat /drink ? We understand restaurants closing time and they also need to head home..but when there is 30 minutes you are forcing us to take something we ordered and get out ? Totally not just this, the overall experience was very sad and disappointing for us.

After this , the manager just even did not show up and ask sorry to us in person and just slipped aside without any onus of responsibility and negligent behaviour.

Is this how customer service being delivered...

Anjappar Chettinad Restaurant in Scarborough is hands down the best spot for authentic South Indian cuisine in Toronto. It has quickly become my favorite place to enjoy a variety of traditional dishes that are consistently delicious and satisfying. Every dish here is a testament to the rich flavors and spices of South Indian cuisine. Some must-try items include their chicken lollipop, chicken fried rice, chilli fish, falooda, and the iconic Madurai bun parotta. The chicken lollipop is perfectly crispy and spiced, making it a delightful appetizer. Their chicken fried rice is flavorful and satisfying, while the chilli fish stands out with its bold and tangy flavors. The Madurai bun parotta is a unique specialty, soft and layered, paired beautifully with their curries. And for dessert, the falooda is the perfect sweet ending, offering a refreshing and indulgent treat. The restaurant isn’t just about great food—it’s also about the exceptional service. The staff are incredibly friendly, always making you feel welcome and valued. The manager deserves a special mention for providing top-notch customer service and ensuring every visit is memorable. Whether you’re a fan of South Indian cuisine or just looking to explore new flavors, Anjappar Chettinad Restaurant is a must-visit. With its authentic dishes, warm ambiance, and outstanding service, it’s a place that never disappoints. Highly recommended for anyone craving a true taste of South India!
