Extremely surprised about this Find - A True Neighborhood Gem! Was headed to a concert at the Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, and needed to find a place to eat. Google Maps pointed to a Bistro at 561 Avenue Road - North of St. Clair. As we walked up the East side of the street, all we could see were apartment buildings, when we happened upon this Italian Bistro on the bottom floor of the apartment building at 561 Avenue Road. Hello? This restaurant has been here for 30 years? WOW!!! Each course of our dinner was 'Simple Perfection'. Presentation was Perfect. Food was Outstanding. Wonderful Service. Only wish is that we would've found this Gem earlier. Reservations are recommended. We will be back!

A hidden gem located on Avenue Road, just north of St. Clair Avenue in an older apartment building. The dining room is small and intimate and mostly frequented by an older clientele. Service is excellent. Many tasty menu items such as Rack of Lamb, Chicken Stir Fry, Pizza, Burgers, Steak, Osoboco, and Veal Marsala to name a few. Some fish and pasta dishes as well. I ordered Minestone soup for the appetizer, followed by Veal Marsala with garlic mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. Cooked to perfection and everything was fresh. Portions are also quite generous so come hungry. This place is highly recommended. Because it is a small place, reserve a table in advance.

A surprisingly good restaurant on the ground floor of a suburban apartment building. The food is not really easy to categorize. It's got a mix of French, Italian, Indian and American influences. Food is well presented and well prepared. Prices exceedingly reasonable. Good wines and excellent deserts. Definitely not hip or trendy but worth a visit.

We tried Bistro Five 61 for the first time last week, and had a delightful experience. We went with another couple, and were seated, as requested, in a quiet corner table. The restaurant is small and elegant, and unlike many places, the noise level was very comfortable. We could actually converse.

Our waiter, Mark, was obviously a seasoned professional who took pride in his work. He was attentive, and seemed to anticipate all our needs. Unlike many restaurants where one searches in vain trying to flag down a server, it felt like Mark always had us in the corner of his eye, ready to fill our water glasses or handle any other need instantly.

Each couple wanted to share a salad, and the kitchen did the splitting for us, saving the messy nuisance of trying to divide it up at the table. Two of us had the Butter Chicken which was excellent, and one had the salmon which was prepared perfectly. Sorbets for dessert were very refreshing.

We will go back. Prices are reasonable and we liked the ambience and...
