My wife and I came here for dinner to enjoy some Hungarian food. As I have a half Hungarian background she was very interested in trying the kind of food my mother and grandmother would make when I was younger. I hate to say it….. It was a very mixed bag.
The restaurant itself was nice and had nice big windows letting in a lot of natural light. The overall décor was not subtle about letting you know that this place was a Hungarian Restaurant, but not in a tacky way. They even had a gentleman on a keyboard playing music which was very nice. The staff was nice and friendly and never once made us feel anything else but welcome and comfortable.
We got some starters and my wife got some Perogies & Sausage with sautéed onions, sour cream, and coleslaw topped with half debreceni sausage and it was great. The perogies were cooked well and tasted great and the sausage was full of flavor, so very satisfying. I had the cold cherry soup, something that I used to have on Christmas Eve dinner with my grandmother and I was very happy with the flavor. It was not exactly what my grandmother made, but it was great nevertheless. With how this all started, we were both really looking forward to the rest of the meal.... but ended up disappointed.
My wife got the Wiener Schnitzel on a bed of rice and I got the Chicken Paprikash with Hungarian dumplings as that was a staple when I was growing up. The schnitzel was dry and breading had very little seasoning to it and the rice was bland, which was very surprising. This was something that my mother made from time to time and it was always full of flavor, especially the rice.
The Paprikash was a very mixed bag. The dumplings were great and so was the sauce, but the chicken was dry and over cooked. It was like they took a few pieces of chicken from something else and just covered it in the sauce. I was expecting for the chicken to be full of flavor from cooking in the sauce and absorbing all that seasoning, not what I ended up getting.
This place was overall a good experience and I hope we just showed up on a bad day, as this is definitely not how I want to introduce my wife to Hungarian food. But, we both agree that we will come and try this place again in the hopes of having a...
Read moreThe dirty truth!!!! Hi guys, I thought I have to share this experience with you.I have known the owner since they open up in the previous location at woodbine and Gerard I was the first customer of Edit and her wife who I brought over 20 people for a smaller wedding. We visited the new locations at Danforth I invited my father and friends my father ordered a mushroom’s stew right at the moments he sad something wrong with he’s food I said maybe need some salt he answered me no is something wrong with the taste not good I couldn’t believe my father cus I sad they cook the best in here. My friend find the food expensive so that time I wasn’t paying attention to them The next day he was stomach seek with diarrhea. Even after all I still like the food so I was older on the phone for pick up my order was a Vienna slice with mashed potatoes and red cabbage. Chicken soup beef stew I have charged about 70$ which I find to expensive so after 5 min I called back to make sure about the amount and yes was the same so I find it expensive so I cancel the beef stew however waitressed, told me the beef stew is already for pick up ( I was kind of surprised I only called back only 5 min past how can be ready so fast. I ask her back how come so soon beef stew need time to cook. Read moreLAURIE. WHATever your name is that you wanna call yo urself the owner speaking to me like that today like I said on the phone. Go back home or go back and learn Canadian etiquette & ethics and I’m sure you will do better. Other than that calling me 6 times after I told you not to call me because you’re harassing me trying to do what ? You didn’t solve the problem after 4 days so now I’ll deal with it myself. Soup isn’t supposed to be served white plastic bag you send for Uber. Your staff is horrible at communication and dealing with situations. I have no idea how you are running a business with your boy Christian when he doesn’t even know how to deal with situations or can solve them. on the phone today and your staff yesterday was clearly a circus show.
This is what happen with a legit 30.00 order. My Uber arrived with my order that was actually a bag of soup you will see in this picture. So I called the staff yesterday in the afternoon when I got my order and asked them what the hell is going on. Why is my order in the plastic bag and not properly packed. She said she would call me back. Funny enough the girl calls me back and says hey so we actually packaged your order properly and the girls said it was the driver because he was on a bike. Funny enough. My Uber was not on a bike he was driving a silver HOnda. So lies already. I can see that this was not packaged properly. Or they put it in way too damn hot and the packaging was damaged. I have no clue that’s what it looked like to me. They said the magnet isn’t there today she’s going in and out and she’ll deal with it. Okay never called me or delt with it. Today I call and some Christian guy goes back and forth back and forth says he can’t do anything about it. It’s Uber fault. The girl who working yesterday said that didn’t happen. Blah blah blah then proceeded to tell me he doesn’t care about my order either. And says well I said it because of you like Learn customer service Christian and I think the magager had to do a better job at dealing with the situations at hand then passing it on to employees that can’t do anything but ruin the resultant’s...
