I had a disappointing experience at Bulk Barn yesterday. I arrived at around 5:50-6:00 and noticed that there were only 3 people at the cash register. One gentleman was handling the transactions, while two girls were standing beside him. One of the girls appeared to be supervising him and had a huge attitude, while the other was distracting her by talking while there were 4 people waiting in line.
The girl who was supervising the gentleman had a terrible attitude. She had a scowl on her face the entire time and spoke to him in a condescending tone. Her facial expression made it clear that she thought she was above him and the job he was doing. She made him feel small and embarrassed in front of everyone waiting in line.
When she finally took over, her talking tone was harsh and impatient. She acted as if she was doing everyone a favor by taking over, instead of just doing her job. Her behavior was completely unacceptable, and I feel that the store should have a closer eye on this girl and the way she treats her coworkers, especially those who are new to the job.
Moreover, her attitude towards clients was also very poor. She seemed to have no interest in helping us and was more interested in talking to her colleague. This girl had highlighted hair, seemed to be of some Asian background, and had her eyebrows drawn. Overall, my experience was not up to my expectations, and I hope that the management will take appropriate steps to ensure that such incidents do not happen...

I had a dreadful experience today, though, with a teenaged cashier who rolled her eyes and mocked me to her fellow cashier. I teach high school, so it's not like I'm unfamiliar with this kind of child. Had she been in my class, I'm sure she'd be the one who would leave her bag on her desk and take off for 40 minutes "to the bathroom". And then, when she finally came back, she'd roll her eyes, sigh heavily, and pout, claiming that "I was there, Miss, I left my bag on my desk, why did you mark me absent?" Despite the cost of gasoline, I have to say that from now on, I'm going to check to see who is working at this Bulk Barn as a cashier before I choose to shop here. If it's her, then I'm turning around and finding a different Bulk Barn - even if it means going kms out of my way. There's no freaking way I'm ever going to shop here again if she's the cashier. I get that 10 months out of the year and I get paid to deal with it. I'm not going to pay for the "privilege"...
Read moreI was so impressed with the covid protocols in place at this store. I felt I could shop here and didn't have to worry about contamination.
When you go in to the store, just like any other store they as you to sanitize but they also have you wear plastic gloves when handling the products. Also, when you are going through, to each bin, they prevent cross contamination by only having each tong or scoop is used once (so if scooping out almonds from one bin, I cannot use that same scoop on another type of nut...terrible example but you get the idea). This is normal the expectation pre-covid considering each bin has their own handling utensils, but I'm sure there are still those out there who don't do it. They have set up bins around the store where you will place the used utensil once finished.
I was pleasantly surprised when I went in and can safely say I will definitely be...
