Ironic that the name of this fast food joint is Butter Chicken Roti, but their signature dish does not remotely do justice to butter chicken. If you are looking for an authentic Indian food experience do not eat here. The portions and service was horrible.
Firstly the lassi was the only thing good about this place. The pani puriās were empty, filled maybe 20% , where most of it was onions. Not to mention the butter chicken did not taste like authentic butter chicken at all, (this was the first time I have tried potatoes in butter chicken which I didnāt mind as much as I thought every Chef has their secret ingredient to their food) but this dish was just FILLED with potatoes, and no chicken- it was butter chicken flavour in essence but you were eating potatoes in substitution of chicken. For a new restaurant, trying to garner more clients at least be generous or in moderation with your ingredients and your service.
Lastly the service was horrible. The servers were rude, and did not seem to care about the clients waiting in line, the chef and server seemed busy conversing in their language without any regards for the customers. We ended up spending $40 on a plate of butter chicken roti, pani puri and 3 lassiās that did not even taste good. I will not be returning here given the other choices on this street, and the price does not reflect the value for the meals. if youāre looking for an authentic Indian experience at a fast food restaurant take a journey to Gerrard India Bazaar or visit Chaska at the Atrium and Bay. Ā Ā Ā Read moreWorst experience ever! The restaurant had only 4 items available from the entire menu. The channa masala was plain, watery, and completely tasteless. The samosa was old, stale, sticky, and had a foul smellāclearly the result of improper food storage or using old supplies.
When I complained, the attendant kept insisting it was āfresh,ā even after I showed him the sticky texture and asked him to smell it himself. He even said, āIf you donāt like it, Iāll make another one, donāt just say itās stale,ā despite me literally showing him the stale food. After much back and forth, he finally refunded me, but the experience was already ruined. Absolutely unacceptable!
Itās extremely disappointing to see a restaurant serve such low-quality food and still defend it instead of taking responsibility. Customers deserve fresh, properly prepared, and hygienic food every single time. I strongly urge the management to improve their food quality, ensure proper storage, and respect the people who spend their money here. Until then, I cannot recommend this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI like spicy food and eat it quite a ton, but every time I eat here I have absolutely terrible indigestion to the point of being incapacitated for hours afterwards. The food is pretty good, but overpriced and not worth the pain and suffering after. I support this place because there basically exists no fast food indian downtown in toronto but I can't see myself returning unless I down an entire bottle of pepto bismol beforehand. Additionally the Medium and Hot spices taste nearly identical, so keep that in mind. I'm sure extra hot is probably hotter but the medium is pretty hot for "medium" and the hot tastes no hotter.
I also hear people complain portion sizes are too small, I will say that if you order the butter chicken roti and just stick to that it's quite large and filling. No idea if other stuff is less worth it but the main thing that gives the place its namesake is...
