Kothur Indian Cuisine — Restaurant in Toronto

I have been a regular here for years, but I think I've hit my limit with the terrible service. And I'm normally willing to put up with a lot. The food is good, if you're actually able to get what you ordered correctly and in a timely manner.

One time I got takeout with a friend who is vegan. We called ahead to ensure what she was ordering was vegan, which staff confirmed, and then we went ahead and ordered. When we went to pick up the food, we found out that the food was not vegan. Staff were very rude and made it seem like we were asking for something ridiculous when we asked they either make a vegan option or give my friend a refund as she couldn't eat the food. They did end up agreeing to remake the food, and we had to sit there for another 45 minutes to wait for it.

More recently, I ordered food for takeout. They said it would be an hour, so we showed up at the correct time to pick up our food. We were told it would be 5 minutes as they were just finishing up the naan. After 20 minutes of waiting there, I asked how long it would be. The person working there said it was in the process of being packed up, and was pretty rude about it. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Indian Kothur Restaurant, and it was an outstanding experience. The restaurant excels in blending South Indian and North Indian flavors in a way that is both innovative and delicious.

The bread was crispy and light, paired perfectly with the rich and creamy butter chicken—a delightful fusion of textures and flavour . The biryani was another highlight, combining aromatic basmati rice with tender, spiced meat, showcasing a beautiful integration of regional influences. The paneer tikka, with its smoky flavor and perfectly spiced marinade, complemented the classic sambar in an unexpected yet fantastic way.

Indian Kothur's ability to bring together these diverse culinary traditions while maintaining the integrity of each dish is truly impressive. They showed me proof that my food had already been given to the driver when DoorDash told the restaurant the customer cancelled the order.

DoorDash told me they could not find a driver. So they lied twice!

I have huge respect for Kothur! They obviously value their customers and their reputation.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: This restaurant cancelled my order more than an hour after I ordered it. The DoorDash driver had already been waiting at the restaurant for 10 minutes when the order was cancelled. I tried to phone the restaurant but no one answered the phone. I have ordered from Kothur in the past but I will never order again. There are many restaurants in Toronto selling the same food with excellent service so there is no need to order from a restaurant that does not value...
