Captain Azza — Restaurant in Toronto

I have always passed by Captain Azza since I recently moved here, but never really tried it. Today I decided I wanted a nice cup of soup, and ordered the chicken gumbo. And I was completely blown away by the flavour! It had so much seasoning, depth, and seafood flavour, and it was not salty at all!

I had a really nice conversation with the elderly gentleman who is the owner, and he explained to me the items on the menu that are made fresh to order. He even let me sample the seafood chowder, and the seafood bisque and they were both incredibly delicious!

I will be sure to return more often to try the many other dishes on the menu. It is good to know that there is a nice, family-run restaurant in the Bloor Islington Place food court that offers something unique and different than the usual chain restaurants. Definitely...

Captain Azza’s crab cake is hands down one of the best I’ve ever had—crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside. The side of couscous was the perfect complement—light, fluffy, and seasoned just right. I also tried the grilled fish—it was perfectly cooked, moist and flaky with just the right amount of char and seasoning that brought out the natural flavor of the fish. What really made the experience memorable though was the kindness of the owner, who surprised us with a complimentary serving of the potato side. As the other reviews mentioned, there was one man running the place when we arrived at the food court. He was very friendly and we ended up ordering the tilapia sandwich and chicken sandwich with fries. The tilapia sandwich was absolutely delicious; the fish was cooked perfectly, and the sauces used in the sandwich tasted amazing. I intended to take it home to eat but devoured the entire thing after one bite in the car! The fries were thick and delicious as well.
