I’m baffled by the positive reviews and it pains me to leave low reviews for a small biz and I try very hard not to but because the reviews are so misleading in comparison to what we received. We wanted to go to kenzo next door but it had a 20 min wait and decided to go here instead based on high reviews. We were starving after a 5km charity walk. We got in at 740pm, it took 15 min for someone to take our order and it took almost an hour since we stepped foot for us to receive our food. I had to request water, my roll didn’t come with ginger or wasabi. I’ve never waited 1 hour for sushi and the food itself, incredibly disappointing. Easily the most disappointing sushi in the city. The tempura batter was heavy . The aburi sushi was incredibly underwhelming, the roll are chunky and not tightly rolled, no actual taste of the spicy salmon. There’s supposed to be a contract of temperature when it comes to a perfect roll. This was like eating a blob of warm rice. Even torched aburi is supposed to have a coolness to it. Took another 10 min to get the bill. I’m so frustrated because we spent $70 on 2 rolls and a tempura app and had the most underwhelming experience here to easily frustrated out perfect eve. Next time, please acknowledge your patrons and tell them to expect a long wait instead of catering to your 10...

I came here for lunch yesterday (2024-10-28) for lunch. My wife usually is not into old school area, but she and I was starving, so we pick Gojima at the end of Toronto / Mississauga area.

We ordered Katsu Don and the Salmon Bento box, their lunch combo.

Miso soup is just right taste (other than normal salty soup) the miso is actually not salty and good.

The Katsu Don I had taste great. My wife although suspects that the Pork cutlet was fried the 2 nd time, I have no problem because it gave me the crunchiness. The combo comes with a mash potato (nostalgic combination), salad, 2 spring rolls and 2 rolled-up rice.

The Salmon bento was similar. My wife had teriyaki Salmon, spring roll, 4 pieces dynamite roll, 2 spring rolls, and Edamame as the side.

My wife said the Salmon was not the most fresh but they do have the freshest salad I ever taste.

I got to say the owner and his chef team put a lot of effort and make do with food to make ordinary taste greatest. This is a hard to find especially we need to support small business nowadays.

The owner also gave use a side of hot noodles. My wife and I agreed: the hot noodles soup in shiyo...

BEST SUSHI EXPERIENCE IN TORONTO Thank you so much for a wonderful birthday dinner experience!! The sushi was fresh, delicious, and served in the gourmet method for a good price - with a bit of wasabi in between the sashimi and the rice! The rolls were a generous size, we ordered too much and they helped us pack it away for us! The server saw that I was wearing a fancy dress, since we came for dinner after an event, so he gave me an apron to cover my dress! He also gave us a complimentary appetizer, and had such cordial service all throughout the dinner! There were regulars next to us who made it an even warmer atmosphere, and we could see the sushi chef work their magic, so it was an overall lovely vibe! Looks like the reviews say that ordering based on the chef’s special, instead of selecting our own plates, is a great recommendation, so I will likely try that next time! Hope to be back soon and we’ll definitely tell our friends :) we got the mini boat and green...

We found this place after a night out and when I tell you this is the best sushi I have ever had I mean it!! Charlie was our server and he was so sweet and kind, we were all wearing nice dresses and he gave us aprons to make sure they wouldn’t get dirty. The sushi itself was huge and absolutely delicious and the whole time he would check on us and even brought us complimentary noodle soup and orange slices at the end of our meal. The atmosphere is so cozy and comforting, something you wouldn’t expect to find in the middle of Etobicoke. He even got on his tippy toes just to take some group photos of us that came out great! Also the amount you pay for the volume you get is absolutely phenomenal!
