They appeared to feel deserving of nothing but praise.
The shop is appealing, no question. We were there during Covid June or July 2020. The owners appeared to be the only people working there and although professional and knowledgeable, they didn't particularly care about us even though we were enthusiastic about the shop and the possibilities it presented us for lunch in the Park.
About $72 was what we spent on a lunch for two. No matter. The experience was the investment although virtually everything would have been available from a trip to Loblaws, and probably for less.
We went back for coffee and I asked if I might use the washroom. We were the only people in the shop.
The answer was effectively 'Here's your coffee. Thanks (not really) for your spend but no, you can't use the washroom because... Covid. Will there be anything else?'
It wasn't couched in that language but the messaging was clear. "You're nice and all and you've spent money (twice now) but... I REALLY don't care about you, nor your enthusiasm... We hear it ALL the time.'
I don't normally leave less than supportive reviews but she (they) really seems to be jaded by ALL the 'Oh, I LOVE this place' reactions they've seen.
I would (and SAID I would) have left the washroom cleaner than I found it. I was a $80 customer in a 90 minute period. She didn't (and I believe doesn't anymore), care.
Loblaws is every bit as good a choice for engaging fare. But they going to appreciate your positive comments. Charge you far less.
And let you...

When I started ordering, he finished my sentence by telling me what I wanted on it. "Everything, you want everything! No, I replied, told him, tureky. Roastbeef , lettuce and pickles. and also requested, light on mayo and mustard. Asked for pickles, no pickles! What deli doesn't have pickles? I digress, I asked for the combo, when cashing out. And he literally threw me a bag of doritos from a box. I asked for a plain chips he ignored my request. At this time I should have just walked out. I proceeded for a drink and paid. No, thank you, no napkins, no correct order!!!, as I discovered once I got to the beach. All turkey, no roast beef smothered in mayo and "everything" on it. May I add, I was the only customer. $18 and change. The former owners were great and really showed they cared. So disappointing. We need a good ol Italian deli in the beaches. CASA MIA is not one. Perhaps this was an isolated incident, but for me, it was enough...

EDIT: While a small section of your deck collapsed (as shown in photo), the repairs occurred after 9 p.m. when your business was closed, with no immediate public danger. We left an adjacent business just before 10PM.
The work could have waited until permitted hours (after 7 a.m. and before opening [10:30am]).
You misquoted the bylaw: §591‑2.3(B) lists prohibited hours but does not allow exceptions; true emergency exemptions fall under §591‑3.1 and apply only to hazards requiring immediate action, which this situation likely did not.
Google reviews pertain to interactions with businesses, like this one with you. No hard feelings, just a record of poor community...
