Regarding "I dined alone without interaction"
After being seated, I placed my order and received a watermelon juice. After taking a sip, TWO LADIES sitting next to me, who had ordered a lemonade, initiated a conversation. She asked whether my juice was fresh because she felt her lemonade was not fresh. I responded that my drink was just average.
By the time I started eating, the TWO LADIES I had spoken to had already left, and a COUPLE had taken their place. I had clear interaction with this COUPLE , and they also found the Pad Thai to be not fresh, requesting a replacement after only a few bites. The server who replaced their Pad Thai was the same one who processed my payment, the one preparing drinks at the bar.
I never claimed to be speaking with "MY FELLOW." The reality is that I was conversing with other customers, which contradicts your account.
Regarding "multiple attempts to engage with me"
After placing my order, I did not touch my food immediately because I was working on my phone. A server noticed this and asked about my meal. I told them, "I am working," and only started eating afterward.
When I finished eating, I called a server to request takeout packaging. Until I checked out and left, no one actively engaged with me. Even after I paid, the POS machine remained on my table for several minutes, and the staff did not ask if I needed a receipt. There was not even a word of thanks for the 18% TIP.
After paying, I stayed at my seat to continue working for a few more minutes until another female staff member finally came over to ask if I needed a bag and how I found the food. In a public setting, was I supposed to openly declare that everything tasted bad?
Your so-called "multiple attempts to communicate" were nothing more than a single brief inquiry.
Throughout the entire experience, there was almost no real engagement.
There were two tables around us, and our complaints about the restaurant were probably loud enough for the bar to hear.
Every dish was terrible. The freshly squeezed juice was made from low-quality, almost garbage-tier fruit, and even the lemonade somehow tasted stale. The ingredients were extremely questionable, as if they were picked up from a food bank and left to rot before being thrown into the pot.
The green curry was overwhelmingly greasy—not like coconut milk, but like pure lard. The rice was awful; I’ve never seen rice this sticky. Add a little more water, and it would literally turn into porridge.
The music was okay, but the tables were wobbly, and the chairs were...
Read moreDec 16, 2024: 2nd visit 3/5 stars Our 2nd visit to Chiang Mai York Mills was disappointing. The service and atmosphere were good but the food was a miss compared to our first visit. It seems the chef may have changed?
The Calamari was okay. The breading was good and crispy but some of the calamari pieces were overcooked making it a bit too chewy. About half the plate was overcooked and other half was perfectly cooked. Not sure if they made the calamari in two batches?
The Chicken Pineapple Fried Rice was okay. The chicken was good and the pineapple pieces were fresh, sweet and juicy. The fried rice was a miss as it was too wet. If it just had been on the wok for a bit longer it would have been good.
The Chicken Pad Thai was okay. The chicken and noodles were good but the taste was on the fishy side. Also, it’s odd to have sugar laid out on the side of the Pad Thai dish (see picture). We haven’t see that before on a Pad Thai dish and makes me question if they are less confident in the seasoning of their Pad Thai dish?
Lastly, we tried to order an Iced Vietnamese Coffee as indicated in the Coffee and Tea Menu (see picture) in both our 1st and 2nd visit. No luck again. Would recommend to change this item if not easily available and as not to mislead on drink options.
— Nov 5, 2024: 1st visit 5/5 Stars We checked out Chiang Mai’s new location at York Mills and the Thai food was awesome. A bonus was the beautiful interior design and comfy seats :)
The Thai Shrimp Rolls were good. They were crispy on the outside with a good tender shrimp on the inside.
The Thai Iced Tea was awesome. They make a great Thai Iced Tea here. Would recommend.
The Braised Beef Khao Soi was really good. The curry was flavourful and went well with the soft and crispy egg noodles. The braised beef was cooked perfectly. It was tender and just melts in your mouth. Would definately recommend.
The Chicken Pineapple Fried Rice was awesome. One of the best pineapple fried rice we have had. The pineapple was fresh with generous amounts of fresh pineapple chunks and tender chicken pieces. Would definitely recommend.
The Thai Tea Tiramisu was awesome. A great combo of Thai Tea and Tiramisu. Would...

Let’s start by saying what a beautiful interior design. Well thought out layout, comfy and reminds me of a cute brunch place you bring your friends and family to.
You are greeted by warm and friendly faces as you pass through the establishment and brought to your table, even the manager from time to time checks up on you and your guest.
My wife and I were there for dinner along with our 2 month child which had a beautiful experience, one would say it was like being in a fine dining restaurant without the expensive price tag.
She loved the Thai ice tea, although lactose intolerant she was willing to risk it for another. I had the mango sticky rice cocktail - it was so damn good, if I wasn’t designed driving that night I would have had a few more.
For appetizers we tried: Crispy soft shell crab (York mills special) Thai tuna ceviche (York mills special) Salmon crudo (York mills special) Wagyu khao soi dumplings Tom yum (with shrimp) Tom kha (with chicken)
Everything was so tasty and my favourtr appetizer(s) are the wagyu dumplings (just so flavorful), Tom khà soup (so creamy and they didn’t skip out on the ingredients), Thai tuna ceviche (fish was just so fresh like the dish) and salmon crudo (fish was just too fresh was unreal)
Moving on to entree: Khao soi surf and turf (York mills special) Lobster Pineapple Fried Rice
I absolutely love the flavor on the khao soi surf and turf, the tenderness of the brisket paired with the lobster (I think they have a tank back there or the seafood is just too fresh). That when I went to the pineapple fried rice that flavor was a bit lacking but considering my wife ate that she she was content with the flavor not too salty.
Lastly desserts: Thai Tea Tiramisu Mango sticky rice
To try if you haven’t yet the Thai tea tiramisu it’s so damn tasty! Even have notes of Thai tea in it. It’s a bit large so be sure to leave some room to enjoy it. And the mango sticky rice, I wonder why it was purple (I’m thinking they infused flower pea leave notes into the sticky rice) nonetheless, very tasty.
I will come back, everything was beyond...
