UPDATE: August/2018. Second meal and oh so not impressed. That's now two strikes. Ordered the Potato Latkes with Corned Beef. The meal arrives with peameal bacon (back bacon.) I mention this to my server who, after checking with the kitchen, tells me they don't have Corned Beef anymore. Gee, thanks for the warning, giving me a choice and the heads up. Substitution without a word from the kitchen or Server (who didn't notice.) Now look at the picture, like the steak before it, the whole thing is anemic and bland. Basically I ended up with a plateful of potatoes and for the price, it was NOT a bargain. And I could have used more than the slight drizzle of Hollandaise sauce covering those eggs.
2018: Haven't been to The Church Street Garage since they had mussels on the menu so it's been a while. I miss those btw.
My Server is clean, polite, engaging and attentive. Can't ask for more.
Steak & Eggs for a Sunday breakfast. I like the fact they open at 9 AM (weekends only.) Church Street is rather limited in choices for early breakfast.
Nothing majorly wrong with the meal itself although the steak arrives without seasoning & looks a tad anemic. Would salt and pepper be such an added expense? I suggest my Server tell whoever cooked the darn thing. And for 17 dollars the plate could use a couple more potatoes.
An order of calamari arrives. Again nothing majorly wrong. They are plump and juicy. I prefer them a tad more on the crispy side but that's a personal preference. The aioli dip is fine.
The Caesar is well made and gives a seasoned kick.
I'm told the A/C is broken...again...but the windows are open and a good breeze makes the seating comfortable. One or two floor fans wouldn't hurt. A parting shot of Jameson helps things out.
Would I go back? Well, yes and no. I'm hoping for a better meal and I go for the three strikes you're out scenario. Especially if it's opening night. Gawd those are hilarious. Let's not forget, it's a Bar first and I'm pretty sure you can forget about...
Read moreIâve been a regular at this spot for about a year, and Iâve always tried to be a respectful, supportive customerâtipping well, being kind, and going out of my way to make life easier for the staff. Unfortunately, Niko has made that effort feel like a waste.
Despite my consistency and respect, Niko has continuously made rude, inappropriate, and sometimes flat-out false remarks about me and others. Heâs accused me of being âso drunkâ when Iâve barely had a couple beersâalways quietly, in a tucked-away corner of the bar with one other person. Heâs called me a âbirdâ to my boyfriend and made tasteless jokes to patrons, including one where he bragged about his bandana being from his âfirst threesome.â He also frequently accepts shots from customers and drinks while working behind the bar, which doesnât exactly give off professionalism or accountability.
The last straw for me was a recent incident where I set my drink on a table well before last call. Niko aggressively threw a coaster at the table and snapped, âI just cleaned this,â then walked away. The irony? He rarely, if ever, cleans the tablesâmost people know the women on staff handle that, and as someone whoâs worked in the service industry, I always clear my own table and bring my glasses back to help out.
That night, I didnât tip. I simply said, âThatâs your job, Niko,â and walked out. Because at a certain point, no amount of kindness or tipping should excuse repeated disrespect and arrogance.
Itâs disappointing to have to write this, but consistent bad behavior shouldnât be ignored just because someoneâs behind a bar.
Needless to say he made a comment after this that I wasnât never allowed back there to someone and honestly Iâm surprised he thinks I ever want to go back there. He is not a good...

Church Street Garage is a wonderfully inclusive bar nestled in the heart of the Village, offering a welcoming atmosphere that makes it a staple in the community.
I particularly enjoy visiting Garage on Thursday evenings or Sunday nights to catch their vibrant drag showsâa highlight that adds an extra layer of entertainment to the experience. The inclusive vibe of the bar makes it a go-to spot for those seeking a diverse & lively environment.
While the menu boasts basic pub fare that looks enticing, unfortunately, none of the options align with my dietary needs. However, I've found solace in enjoying a variety of teas during my visits.
The staff at Church Street Garage are consistently pleasant, creating a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. While they may not go above & beyond, their positive demeanour adds to the overall experience.
During the summer, the spacious patio at Garage is a definite plus, providing a fantastic setting to enjoy food and beverages outdoors. I've also attended Meet Ups at Garage, & the versatility of the space makes it suitable for various social gatherings.
In conclusion, Church Street Garage is more than just a barâit's a hub of inclusivity, entertainment, & community. Whether you're there for the drag shows, a casual meal, or simply to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, Garage is a great addition to the...
