We know that early Americans referred 'donuts' as 'oily cakes', but I am not sure why they named this brand 'Unholy'!. They have a new location at 596 Bay St. It’s definitely not cheap, but their donuts are fresh and delicious! I got the black forest, and the other was a strawberry something with Nutella, cinnamon sugar and few more and I was hooked. We all have a favourite and some of us have been known to drive great distances to get our fix. Just wanted to let you know that you can find this beloved here at this place, from the cinnamon sugar to the sprinkle to the apple fritter (which has achieved legend status in my household) to some of the seasonal flavours (like the apple crumble donut which will live in my dreams forever), everyone has been delicious. Let it be bad days, good days, or anything in between, we, the weird ones know that there are few pleasures simpler than a perfect doughnut!
Few weeks ago, I got a donut box and walked to Union station as usual. When I reached the station, I realized that my Presto card (which I added $100 that morning!) is not in my wallet. It took some time for me to get back to the momentum. I googled for Unholy donuts downtown and called them, but it was the 95 Maitland St location and Mary who answered the phone said the brand-new location at 596 Bay St (where I have been) doesn't have a phone. But she was kind enough to tell me to wait a bit so that she will contact the staff at 596 Bay and see if my Presto Card is there. Like she promised, Mary called me just after few minutes and told me that my Presto card is there at 596 Bay St!!! I walked back on that rainy day! Paula, who sympathized for the additional '7000+' steps which I took on that cold day returned my card! I believe I don't need to add anymore about their exceptional...
Read moreIt's an semi acceptable neighbourhood donut shop if you go often and know how to navigate the issues. Get the ferrero rocher donut as was good. Now onto the issues:
They say they open at 11:30. Which is late enough as it is. But at 11:30 their store was still closed and I had to circle back before they actually opened
Even as they opened past the time of their actual opening time, they don't have all ready. So if you're in a hurry you're out of luck. You'll have to wait as they set their display - not sure how long that actually takes - or order only what's been displayed up to that point. And from experience, if you go early enough, it'll be almost nothing. And this is not a place where you walk in and order a dozen and walk out in 2 minutes. It'll inexplicably much longer.
Why does the Boston cream filling have booze in it? It does not add anything to the flavour and makes it much much worse. I have nothing against alcohol. I like it in so many things and even more served by itself. But here it's making both alcohol and donuts worse
This seems to be a common thing where booze is hiding in random places. So if you're planning on giving some of these to kids, I'd stay away
... Why would anyone need a booze hit from their morning pastry?
They don't have normal coffee - how is that a thing for a donut shop?
Some of these wouldn't be an issue if these were not 5$ a pop. But they are so it is.
I do not live far from here. I went because two people requested it after seeing it on social media so I went by before lunch. I would not...
Read moreWent to grab some donuts with my family, however we felt rushed and left feeling annoyed. While trying to discuss what we wanted with each other, the person working continuously chimed in and offered to get any donut we mentioned. This wouldn't be an issue if we hadn't already mentioned that we were just looking before we picked anything. We were also speaking quietly and directly at each other, slightly away from the counter. It got to the point we were whispering just to get through the conversation uninterrupted. At least the donuts were good, but the service makes me not want to come back.
Changed it to one star after the company replied and dismissed what I had said, especially after filling that reply with assumptions. I wanted to keep the perfectly fluent English-speaking Asian man out of the description so no one would get in trouble. The Ukrainian girl that you mentioned wasn't present at all.
If you have so much trouble with her that my review made you feel as though I was calling her out, you should have someone working with her.
I figured you would use this information to update your training manual so people understand what "give us a minute...
