This Restaurant Does Not Take Food Allergies Seriously – Avoid at All Costs
I went to Si Lom Thai with a group of friends, and we ordered several dishes to share, including Pad Thai. One of my friends who was ordering for the table explicitly told the server that I have a nut allergy and requested that all dishes be made without nuts or have them put separately on the side. The server acknowledged this and took the order.
Yet, when the Pad Thai arrived, they had put the crushed peanuts in a small container on the side of the plate—but some had already spilled into the dish before it even reached our table (which we only realized after I had an allergic reaction). There were several ingredients in the pad thai and the crushed peanuts were not noticeable at all. (Can refer to the picture). I had a couple of bites and I immediately had an allergic reaction—my mouth swelled, and my throat started tingling. After I started reacting, my friend inspected and taste-tested the dish, confirming that there were crushed peanuts mixed into the noodles. This kind of negligence is not just a mistake—it’s dangerous. Some people have life-threatening allergies, and had I been more sensitive, this could have sent me to the ER or worse.
Cold, fizzy beverages help with the itchiness and swelling for me, so I immediately ordered coke with ice. As I ordered my drink, I told them that I was having an allergic reaction because there were nuts in the Pad Thai. They were apologetic in the moment, but that was the extent of it. What made me the angriest wasn’t that they didn’t comp my meal or my Coke—it’s that our server showed absolutely no concern about preventing this from happening again. There was no “We’re so sorry, we’ll be more careful next time.” No reassurance that they’d talk to the kitchen. No sign that they even cared beyond that interaction. It was like they shrugged it off and moved on.
To top it all off, they still forced an automatic gratuity on our bill—giving us no choice even after what happened.
This restaurant is a health hazard for anyone with food allergies. Their careless handling of allergens and complete indifference to the consequences shows a total lack of responsibility. If you or people around you have food allergies, do not eat here. I wouldn’t wish this...

The ambiance is cozy, providing a perfect setting to enjoy a meal with friends. The decor reflects Thai culture, with warm lighting and tasteful decorations that add to the overall charm of the place.
The menu offered a variety of dishes, and everything we ordered was bursting with flavor. Each dish was prepared with fresh ingredients and authentic Thai spices, giving us a true taste of Thailand. We particularly enjoyed the pad thai and the pork specials, both of which were exceptional.
In addition to the delicious food, the service at Si Lom was fast and efficient. The staff was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Our orders were taken promptly, and the food arrived quickly, which is always a plus when you're hungry and eager to eat.

update: owner responded back, but too much of a wuss to type it in english. They're probably too busy cleaning the restaurant from rats, to translate what they said.
(update after owner responded): yes it is the norm BUT IT'S STILL NOT THE LAW, so idk what your point is. Maybe pay your employees better, so they won't rely on tips. If you care about tipping so much, then don't add a "No tip" option when it's time for the bill.
Food is definitely more expensive than other Thai places, I'd say $20-$30 dollars was the range. Cocktails were same price as other overpriced restaurants $12.50, it tastes decent. When I paid, we stayed for a little bit as I was waiting for my friend to come out of the washroom. The server went up to us again regarding our receipt saying that "they saw we didn't tip and they take tipping very seriously". Restaurant shouldve stated that clearly in their menu, that was such an awkward experience. Don't think there was any mind-blowing experience for us to tip, servers are expected to show basic respect to customers anyways. Wouldve been better to say it privately, instead of saying it loudly for other customers to hear. There's no law that requires customers to tip everytime they eat out, servers are alreadyy paid per hour. overall,...
