Feb 2025: Shepherds pie isn't made with ground beef. Cottage pie is. The name should give you a hint...and I don't know why I keep trying with this restaurant. June 2022: Nope. Not impressed. From the 15 dollar meal I was served I guess anything can be called: "English." Went for Brunch on a Saturday and ordered the English Fry Up. The menu states it comes with a smash sausage patty but I got two sausage links. Ok minor detail. But the tomatoes were pretty much raw, no mushrooms, no beans, no black pudding, two small eggs and...from the bag frozen taters?!? The horror. You really should change the name of this thing. PS: The bacon is great. Hang on to that one. July/2018. Lunch for two drops to lunch for one. The fool is still working. Having a huge craving for a burger, I order the Firkin which comes with bacon, cheese & sauteed onions. The meat is nice and the side of onion rings is crisp with the onions being plentiful. Only minor drawback, the burger needs more seasoning. But the Caesar helps wash it all down and craving satisfied. Many a visit for drinks and food with little to complain about. Super nice staff. Note: What NOT to order: Waffle Chicken. Globules of fat in between chicken pieces with a batter that looks and feels like it was made in 1938, frozen and left to be microwaved to a blackened crisp upon the unsuspecting customer. Avoid at all cost. Thank goodness for the coffee.

After a lively group activity, we decided to unwind at The Churchmouse: A Firkin Pub for drinks and a bite. The pub’s inviting atmosphere and a featured BBQ pulled pork nachos photo on the menu drew us in. Unfortunately, what followed was a classic case of Instagram versus reality. The service was chaotic at best—we never knew who our actual server was as different people kept attending to us. Sticking to simplicity, we all ordered the featured nachos. But when they arrived, our collective disappointment was palpable. Instead of the tempting layers of pulled pork, veggies, and melted cheese that were advertised, we received a sparsely topped plate of chips, with little more than beans and queso. Finding pulled pork became a scavenger hunt—most of us barely found a single piece, with one unlucky diner discovering only three. When one of the rotating servers asked how it was, I pointed to the featured picture and expressed our disappointment. His response? A shrug and a quick exit. We all agreed to eat what we could and leave. Sadly, this local pub fell far short of our expectations.

Extremely disappointed with Guinness drought here. It’s been years for having Guinness drought here and there and every time I introduce this beer to my new friend I’ll come here. But this time my friend ordered the smallest amount of guinness (20oz?), while what we got tasted sour. It cant be sour and god knows there’s no way it can be sour unless bc it’s sooooo small that the bartender didn’t want to serve it correctly. If you can’t serve it properly with good quality, you don’t deserve to use a super fancy (even at separate area) guinness tap without under supervision. It my first time so disappointed with a bar I’ve used been to, and the bartender tonight definitely should go to somewhere else if can’t serve a simple stout right. I may still coming here but I won’t trust the bartender here anymore, not even thinking about suggesting drinks here to my friends. This bartender is just a shame of the bar and disappointed me so much.

I live fairly close so we often just get take out and eat at home. It's been 2 years, and without fail almost every time they have forgotten the sauce or dressings for my meal. We often get the English Dip, multiple times we have recieved it without the au jus. I most often order a house salad, 9/10 times they forget to add the dressing to the bag. I'm honestly quite sick of having to go back every time I order and I hate that it's now at the point where if I do want to order from them, I need to fully unpack my take out order before leaving the establishment just to ensure I have all my items. Clearly something needs to change about your take out set up if its always the same items you are forgetting nearly every time.

It's disappointing because the food is good, but I'm not going to waste my time ordering & picking up from here if they cant take 2 seconds of theirs to ensure my order is complete before sending it out.

Just this past weekend, ordered 1lb of hot wings with a house salad on the side, no dressing with or on the salad. They were slammed because of the leafs game so I decided not to go back and the salad (and the money I paid for it) went to waste.

All in all, good food. Super frustrating take out...

What a wonderful and fantastic welcome by Danielle who then became an awesome server. She knew the menu and specials with ease and in a lovely, patient way explained and described them with precision and clarity. She also knew her wines and discreetly suggested a cab sauv that was most surprisingly enjoyable and delectable. Her sparkling and scintillating character and demeanour absolutely made this before cocktail hour an incredible experience. The wine was a great crowd pleaser and one of those wines you would call an afternoon summer sipping wine, rich, medium bodied, smooth and delicious.. As for the appetizer we ordered the calamari plate that was so abundant with shrimp, calamari and green beans delicately frosted with a light and perfectly seasoned batter . Absolutely delicious and certainly and ample platter full . I would also recommend the margaritas!!!! The food was extraordinarily prepared and the Chef certainly knew how delicate calamari can be. This has to be a top Chef because the preparation and subtle herbaceous flavours were readily recognizable. The outdoor patio gardens are well tended and the natural ambience certainly added to make a pre happy hour...
