This independent cafe' is conveniently located on a side street off of Eglinton ave, just west of Avenue Road. Having walked by this place several times in the past is decided to drop in for a sweet treat. Okay, I'm entitled to it once in a while.
There is seating for about 11. Wi-fi is free. The food selection isn't the greatest, but what they have seems good quality. They didn't say they made it themselves, which makes me think they ordered it from the same supplier that the grocery chains use. The difference is that I could buy 6 for the price I paid for one. I had a chocolate chip muffin accented with caramel, which cost me $4.52. I don't mind paying that much if it comes with the right customer service and atmosphere.
The decor was good, even the layout and limited seating. The music was pleasant. If you're looking for privacy, you won't fond it here as you could hear everyone's conversations. The customer service, though polite and well intended, fell short by my standards. Let me explain. I was welcomed with an "Hi. How are you?", but it didn't seem sincere. The counter staff was eager, eager to sell me on what they had, and never took the time to read my needs.
I don't like feeling like a walking wallet or target to sell. I prefer the relationship approach where they get to know me. That's not what happened. I even asked them if it was okay to review their cafe' and they totally missed the opportunity to share their story.
In this respect, Starbucks provides a better atmosphere and customer service.
For this reason I give them 3 for customer service. But, if you're more of a just give me the goods and leave me alone mindset, then you will do well here.
I may give them another try if I'm early for a meeting and need wifi for my laptop. Maybe try their...

Make no mistake he knows his stuff, selling aeropresses and roasting some single origin Ethiopia yirgacheffe misty Valley, Guatemala organic huehuetenango. The light-medium roast he makes is to die for for coffee conneseurs, 2x 1lbs bag on discount (his brand is crosstown coffee, applekoos is a larger partner). The espressos are no pushover either. He doesn't overroast his espresso blend so if you like dark dark roast you better ask first.
The flat white is great, I personally do a cappuccino or large drip but the mocha is my son's favourite.
The snacks and sweets are great, and reasonably priced compared to the huge markups of most cafes. Even the coffee gadgets, japan hand drip kit, chemex are all reasonably priced.
I go here on a walk every week once or twice and only buy my coffee...
Read moreI was walking around the neighbourhood with my grandma and we stumbled upon this incredible coffee bar. She is gluten intolerant and they provided a variety of gluten free options that are delicious from muffins, to brownies and sandwiches. I have gone here three times now and have tried the turkey avocado, ham and cheese and chicken salad and we enjoyed it so much. I also got a latte and it was really great as well. The people who work here are also so nice and give excellent service. Although a little pricier itâs definitely worth it as you are getting high quality stuff. Will keep...
