Well, I gave them 2 out of 5 because to be fair, my potato pizza was tasty, cooked through and as bland as I wanted it to be, but only because I had the foresight to request well done thin crust. Minor dietary restrictions almost takes regular pizza off the table for me otherwise. My partner was less fortunate. He was the reason we even ordered pizza. He's the aficionado that ensured we drive over to pick up fresh so he could enjoy it hot (we live nearby and would normally walk). His was the deep dish 'Chicago' style pizza. The base of this normally classic pie was easily 1" of thick dough, soft and terribly undercooked. Ever eat raw yeast dough?!? ....not something our tummies, tastebuds nor wallets should be forced to endure. Even though our personal mantra has always been to support the local small business owners first - since well before the pandemic, we had to take a second look at whether such lofty ideals are worthwhile anymore after the owner immediately started yelling incoherently on the phone as I presented our findings to him in my usual friendly tones. In letting the store know of his unfortunate gooey mess, the owner did NOT want to hear about it, was highly dismissive of our complaint (view pics). As an aside --- correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't the premise of the Chicago-style deep-dish pizza pie where the fillings are cheesy and deep? .....as opposed to the base itself. The dough was easily an inch thick, and looked like a pull apart tube of raw freezer dough. Too bad. We've seen this little pizzeria in our neighbourhood for a number of years now and thought to finally give them a try. It's my fault that we vetoed Maker pizza across the street..... but it's now quite clear: DaVenezia Pizzeria not standing behind our very disappointing weekly takeout supper is not helping my side of the argument of "supporting the little guy". Sowumm, the long and the short of my lament here? ....thanks for a gooey ball of nothingness! After working 7 days a week, we just weren't up for running right back after we finally settled in with what was supposed to be our highly anticipated neighbourhood treat. If nothing else, DaVenezia now serves a role of making their competitors directly across the street that much more attractive for future pizzas. And apparently, Maker Pizzeria would have stood behind their product if a similar such incident were to occur with their orders. I was assured the likelihood of practically raw pizza would be slim to none anyhow. So don't go there - DO avoid DaVenezia, unless you like to gamble with your well-deserved supper. Do yourself a big favour ~ avoid the high risk of letdown by getting that luscious 'likely actual gourmet' pie across the street instead. Hey, maybe Da Venezia Pizzeria will just continue to succeed as they have by continuing to serve local high school students their pizza slice daily specials instead. I wish them and their diners' sorry pizza-bellies all the best! Too bad such a simple wish just wasn't in the cards for us too, at least not yesterday.

OH MY GOD! 🤌 does that suffice as a review? Hell no! This hidden gem deserves its due appreciation as only such places let you keep your hope in power of small stores over large chains. Absolute joy for a foodie who is looking for authentic food. Da Venezia serves gourmet pizzas and hence price-wise costlier than regular pizza chains. They have a huge variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian pizzas both. Being a vegetarian, I picked “Spinaci” which had 4 toppings of Spinach, herbed tomato, ricotta cheese and parmigiana cheese. It was packed with right flavours and the combination of toppings was perfect. Thing to look out for: finding parking could be tricky so try placing your order by calling and pick up once ready. My only regret was not having a bigger size of pizza. But no worries, I’ll be back for more of this sheer goodness. Update: I went again and ordered Bianca this time. The crust was spot on and overall pizza was amaze! The only thing you might need to worry about is it doesn’t have usual tomato sauce/tomatoes. Although I loved this version equally as the Spinaci.

Amazing crust. So simple but so good. Its like ive never eaten a proper crust before. Thin, fluffy, yet crispy on the bottom. Garlic dip is homemade, thinner than big chains. Little yogurt? Like Tzitki garlic sauce. I really like it. It's a fairly small space. There are 2 four-Seater tables, 2 two-Seater tables. Seems like a walk- in, or delivery, oriented as there doesn't appear to be a customer washroom. Huge windows at the front made for nice window seating. Usual sodas and juice are available as well as some slightly different drinks: San pelligrino, brio, and pedra salgadas sparkling mineral water. Despite being a small business theres no extra charge on card payment. 3-4 street parking spots out front on Avenue road. Pay parking Mon-Sat 8:00AM—9:00PM, SUN 1:00PM-9:00PM. Or if you're lucky to find street parking on the residential street south of the store. I regret not coming here sooner!

I had a rather weird experience with this pizza establishment last night. So I absolutely loved their pizza Bianca. I order it alot off the uber eats or I go in and grab one when I’m in the area.

Anyways last night I call to order a pizza like most times. I said to the girl working. I’d like a Bianca she takes my order and in the end she says I need a payment over the phone and I say what why ? . She says it’s just protocol? I say Why I’ve never done this for any pizza restaurant. The girl says well I cannot make your pizza till you pay so you can give us the card over the phone or pay in store first ! I was like wtf? Okay and hung up! I was with my friend last night in that area and I decided. Let him call and see if they make him pay over the phone before the order. So he called and they took his order no problem with no pre payment. I was absolutely flabbergasted that they said one thing to me and another to him so since I was actually infront of the store I went into the pizzeria. When I went in the girl and man stood in-front of me I said hey buddy why didn’t you take my order but you took my friends without payment ?? he says I thought you were someone else.??? How can you think I’m someone else I don’t even know this man. I order from him once every two weeks or whatever?. I don’t know this man. I never cheated him on his pizza at anytime and I actually loved his Bianca pizza. He tried to talk to me but why would I listen to him. He disrespected my service so why would I let him speak? I don’t know this man at all and for him to ask me for a payment then not ask my friends for payment over the phone was crazy. Truly disappointing but whatever I find old people judge young people and that how they loose business by judging and disrespecting the young generations. I own two of my Own business and I found this so disappointing and disrespectful so I will not be eating here anymore. Thanks for the juding a book by its cover and the biggest disrespect I’ve actually ever had from anyone in my life.

Absolutely horrible and disrespectful attitude from the owner. Will not be back because of...

I have bought from Da Venezia many times. The pizza is excellent. I even left a 5 star review when I started buying pizza from them. A while back they hired a young lady to take orders, who clearly is not up to the task. I'm not sure if it's a language issue or she is not suited for the role, but whatever it is, she has made ordering from them a challenge. Today she once again misunderstood my request despite I made a point to repeat myself 3 times to be absolutely clear, knowing she could and would get it wrong. And yet, she managed to get it wrong. I understand we all make mistakes and can have bad days, but it's not the first time it happens. What was really disheartening and made it worse was that the owner, instead of apologizing and trying to fix it, sided with his employee, suggesting I didn't order what I was saying I did and that I should be more clear. Okaaaay, I guess they don't believe in customer service. What a shame. All he had to do was say I'm so sorry for the mix up! It's so easy to keep customers loyal! Anyway, he can keep his attendant and his pies. My money will go elsewhere, where customers are actually appreciated and orders are taken properly. It's certainly not the only good...
