Darband Restaurant: A Must-Try for Authentic Persian Cuisine 🇮🇷🍽️

If you haven’t tried Darband Restaurant yet, I highly suggest you do so as soon as possible! This place is an absolute gem, offering food that is on par with what you’d get inside Iran—a true taste of Persian cuisine right in Toronto. 🌍✨

🍖 Generous Portions & Authentic Flavors

One of the standout features of this restaurant is the generosity in portion sizes. You definitely won’t leave hungry! The lamb chops here are absolutely amazing—juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. 🤤🔥

We love this place so much that we drove all the way from Montreal just to eat here! 🚗💨 The first time we discovered it was in 2019 while visiting Toronto, and we made sure to return in 2022 when we came to see the Raptors. This time, our cravings led us to make another special trip just for supper here. That’s how irresistible the food is! 😍

🍛 So Many Dishes, So Many Ways to Enjoy Rice!

Persian cuisine is famous for its fragrant and flavorful rice dishes, and Darband does them perfectly. Each dish is beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection. If you love eggplant, be sure to try their eggplant dishes—they are delicious! 🍆👌

🥣 Traditional Persian Breakfast Experience

I also had the pleasure of visiting Darband for a Persian breakfast, and it did not disappoint! I ordered: ✅ Kaleh Pacheh (sheep head soup) – Rich, flavorful, and hearty. ✅ Sirabi (tripe soup) – A traditional delicacy for the adventurous foodie. ✅ Halim (to-go) – A comforting, well-cooked, and satisfying dish.

Everything was fresh, perfectly prepared, and bursting with authentic flavors. ☀️🍲

💁‍♂️ Friendly Service & Atmosphere

The service was quick and friendly, with staff ensuring that everything was just right. The restaurant itself has a welcoming, inviting atmosphere, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. 🎉

🍽️ Busy but Worth the Wait!

The only downside? This place gets really busy! It’s a popular spot, and I only wish they had a bigger restaurant to accommodate everyone. If you plan to visit, try to arrive early or be prepared for a bit of a wait—it’s worth it! ⏳🙌

🌱 Vegetarian Options? Limited but Accommodating

While the menu doesn’t have a ton of vegetarian choices, the staff is very accommodating and can adjust dishes to fit dietary needs.

🚀 Final Verdict: 5-Hour Drive? YES!

Is Darband worth a 5-hour drive from Montreal? Absolutely, 100% YES! ✅ Whether you’re craving succulent kebabs, aromatic rice, or a traditional Persian breakfast, this place is a must-visit. Once you try their food, you’ll be mesmerized by the incredible flavors and aromas. 🌿🍖🔥

I was staying in a hotel last night, thinking of doing take out instead of eating at the hotel restaurant for double the price of what I can buy outside. I was contemplating of doing the ones I knew already or try a new food, I was so close at buying at Pizza Hut then tbh lol but then my subconscious told me “you already went this far home why not try something new?” So I did and searched restaurants near me. Darband Restaurant popped up first, I honestly scrolled past it until I was scrolling for 10mins and couldn’t decide. So I settled on what has most stars which is Darband.

I looked for the menus and reviews which had lots of good one plus decent pricing. I went to call and ask for pick up instead of eating in, I couldn’t pronounce the names of the menu but I tried haha.

30mins later I went to the restaurant and boy it was packed! And people were still coming in. It was the busiest place in the whole varieties of restaurant in that area, I was glad I did a pick up.

Back to my room, I ordered lamb shank and a kebab. The portions are massive so as the containers 😂

I love the food, fall off the bone lamb, juicy kebab and that soup on the side tasted just the same as one of our native dishes. I didn’t know it’d be that much so I didn’t finish it, saved it for lunch the next day.

But for sure I’d be enjoying it if I did an eat in but I was by myself then and it was a different ethnicity I’d be out of place lol. I love the vibe of the restaurant tho, it was quite small, had a few tables but the ambience, lighting, and staff are helpful.

Later I searched there was only 2 branches across Ontario, no wonder it was that unbelievably...

BLACK LISTED

Darband used to be famous for service and quality. But recently it does his best to be the best in the bad list! Today, I called them to reserve a table. The lady told me that they do no have reservation but first come first service. How many free tables do yiu have now?, I asked. We do but I am not sure if they are still available when you arrived, she answered. I was there in 10 minute and I was told that all the tables are full and my name should be in the waiting list. What is the waiting time? I asked. Around 25 min, she answered. I got surprised but still positive. We waited in the car for around 45 min and saw some people who reserved after us came in. We still stayed positive maybe phone number was written wrongly. So, we came in and checked. You are in the next table. She answered. But after 20 min we saw that the tables were taken by others and they did not call us. We gave up and left there although they called us after 15 min. Challanges and problems exist in all business but LYING and MISLEADING customers is unprofessional and unforgiven. They could have told us in the phone that you may need to wait for 2 h. Then, I will appreciate their honesty, professionality and resposibility. As long as customers do not care about unprofesional bahaviours, such business continue to treat thrm rudely. But very soon, they will be aware of their rights and it will be TOO LATE for those budiness to be corrected. we vote with our money, always looking for the resposible business to support them and always to get far away from business they insult the customers. Good...

I wonder how this place has so many good reviews cuz there are better options in the city😂 Not gonna lie, the food was ok. Not what I expected. Kabab and joheh was too dry. Also, being in Toronto and having so many persian store's, there are sooooooo many good options for rice that hits like home. And for some reason they have a basic Canadian taste rice, that's Meh😑 This 3star is just for the food btw cuz customer service 🤮 Moving on to customer service, for some reason 90% of persians have very low quality customer service. I ordered by phone and picked it up, the lady who was on the phone was on a rush taking the order, when i get there she didn't check how much i gave her and she was giving me money back( but i still had to give her some), she was all confused, no Hi or bye, they didn't put utensils in the bag so i had to ask and wait for 3 other employees to finish up their convo( and they didn't even notice me) and after another customer told them this lady needs help they looked at gave me utensils. Is this too much to ask for a NORMAL customer service?😂 NEW UPDATE **** I was craving Ash today and got uber eats. I ordered Ash and Adas polo. The Ash was 1000% store canned bought and reheated! Mushy and disgusting. That does not represent the Iranian culture. The Adas polo was also not good. I only got rice, no lentils and one piece of small meat. NO FORK OR SPOON was in the bag... Also im not able to put any of their containers in the microwave... if you're thinking to grab takeout or ubereats, DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS REHEATED CANNED RESTAURANT..
